Incredible. Different take on "magic" and its uses and limitations, battle between good and evil. Lots of characters to keep up with, but excellent story.

Song of Ice and Fire series (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast of Crows, the Hedge knight (graphic novel) )

Not a bad series if you past the the graphic sex and violence, incest (ewww!!), some what unlikeable characters (there are some exceptions) and the authors penchant for killing off characters at will. Other than that, it's just like medievil politics in action.
