..... please post any problems, bugs, bootings, etc in this thread....

so far.... I have to use opera for the chatroom, as when i use internet explorer, and firefox i either get booted everytime i send a message, or the browser itself crashes....
in opera, i still get booted, only not as often, and sometimes i cant get back in and/or it claims my password is wrong or 'this user is already registered'

Liz herself has 'lost' things in the new forum.....

please add all comments as you find 'issues'

I have lost things because I'm HTML challenged!..lol

The immediate suggestions that I can think of are
  1. Cookies
  2. Temp Files (Internet)
  3. Cache files (I just recently found over 1GB!)
  4. Firewall settings
  5. Security settings
  6. Flash & Java
  7. etc...I'm busy trying to find a help page.

Found some suggestions...Let me know if any work!

Having trouble staying logged in, what now?

There are several things that we would like you to try.

First, verify that the date on your computer's operating system is correct. Here are the instructions for that:
1) Click on the Start button - (I'm assuming that you have Windows on your computer, correct me if I'm wrong)
2) Click on the Settings
3) Select the Control Panel
4) Click on the Date and Time
5) Change it accordingly from here.
Double-check the date even if you are certain it is correct. Sometimes date settings seem to change for no obvious reason.

Next try these things:

1) Try deleting your cookies. Here are the instructions:
Deleting cookies

2) Try clearing your cache (temporary internet files)
Clearing the cache

3) Then log in from the homepage at http://www.yuku.com/

4) If you still are prompted by login screens, go back to the homepage ( http://www.yuku.com/ ) or your Yuku community and try logging in again.

If none of these solutions work, you can file an help ticket for one-on-one support and troubleshooting. Be sure and tell us exactly what you have already tried so we don't give you this same list. It would also save time if you'll include information about your computer - your operating system, browser/version, any security software you run, etc.

Additional things to check

Cookies and frames don't mix, if you cannot stay logged in when viewing a board in frames (such as, linking through a web site). If you right click your mouse button in the frame, and select "Properties", you will see the URL of the yuku board. Highlight that URL, copy and paste it into the address box of your browser in order to view the board and stay logged into your account.

An additional trouble shooting step you should take if you use a proxy server or firewall follows.

If you use a proxy server that has a block cookies option (Cookiewall is one very common type of proxy whose main purpose is just that) try disabling it temporarily.

If you use the program The Proxomitron, make sure you have added the following to your allowed cookies.txt file.

[^++].yuku.com/

If you use any type of firewall, try disabling it temporarily to see if it it causing your problem, if it is, you will need to correct the settings to allow all cookies in the yuku.com domain space.

Check if your firewall is listed below for possible causes and fixes, these are not going to work for everyone with these programs though they will work for most. Problems remaining logged in can definitely be attributed to these products though.

Norton Personal Firewall:
Check the following settings under privacy controls (applies to 2002, and should apply to 2003 as well)

If you see the slider for the security level, make sure it's set to medium or low.

If you see the Custom Level... info instead, click the Custom Level button and check that the following setting is

set as indicated:

Cookie Blocking:

None: Allow All Cookies

also, to stop some request errors, please make sure that Enable Browser Privacy is unchecked as this could also affect your ability to remain logged in.

Norton Internet Security:

The above should apply to the Firewall in Norton Internet Security as well as they are the same product.

In addition to the above, disable the ad blocking function and try again, as the ad blocker used in this product can also cause cookies to be blocked as a side-effect of blocking ads. In addition, the ad-blocker has been known to make some communities render improperly, or not at all.

Norton Antivirus:

If you suddenly start experiencing login problems and use this product, check that your update subscription hasn't expired, as weird as this is, several users have reported having problems with logging in after their update subscription for NAV have expired and often had to remove the product to fix the problem.

Zone alarm pro 4:

In the Privacy >> Main section there are sliders, one for cookie security and one for ad blocking

In the cookie controls, the Medium setting can cause you to be randomly logged out, or unable to login at all, in such cases, you need to either modify the cookie handling for each server to allow 3rd party and persistent cookies in addition to session cookies.

if you see that the settings are "custom" in the settings, please click the advanced... button in that section and check that the above cookies are allowed. In addition, there is a setting to cause cookies to expire immediately, make sure this options is unchecked, as it will prevent you from logging in.

If the ad-block is set to high, it will also cause some issues because of how it blocks some ads, in addition, you will notice with this particular setting another symptom, it will block animated gifs from working properly, especially those it considers to be ad-like in nature.

Spyware Doctor has been reported by ezboard users to cause login/logout problems.

If you run Spyware Doctor, first test to see if it is interfering with your ezboard cookie by turning it off temporarily, then trying to use your ezboard account.

If you can use your ezboard account successfully while Spyware Doctor is disabled, try setting it to ignore friendly cookies. The instructions should be something like this:

1. Click the "OnGuard" button on Spyware Doctor's screen. Select "Cookie Monitor" and, if necessary, click the "Summary" tab to bring it into view.

2. Click on "ON", next to the "Auto-detection is now: to disable Cookie Monitor".

3. Open your browser and access the sites which have this issue. The cookies should download and install automatically. Complete login session and close your browser.

4. Run a Quick Scan in SpyWare Doctor.

5. On the Scan Results screen, select the relevant cookies in the list, right-click in the list and choose "Move to Ignore List" from the resulting pop-up menu. If you wish, you may remove other infections by clicking on "Fix."

6. Reactivate Cookie Monitor and ensure that OnGuard is activated to protect your system against other malicious cookies.

The above steps may vary depending on which version of Spyware Doctor you're running.

After tweaking your Spyware Doctor settings, re-enable the program.

I haven't been in enough to tell.  Although I did initially have trouble signing up.  Then 1 day the lightbulb went on and I got in straightaway.  Or was that Multiply.

You obviously made it Jules because you are a member!

Although I may 'migrate' all the old posts etc to another forum, I have put too much effort into getting yuku stuff together...I couldn't face starting from scratch again so its pretty definate that yuku gripes is the main forum I will use.

If you want to become a member, make sure you sign up before groups close as I have no way of contacting anyone to let them know where to go after the changeover.

These pages will be history!

May be better to try to learn to navigate the forum along with everyone else (including me!) than be left out in the cold later.

Chris...are you going to change your name to YukyChrissy now?..lol
