Holy bizarre news story of the day Batman.

The mayor of a Turkish city called Batman is suing Warner Bros and producers of the recent smash hit The Dark Knight for using the name without their permission.

Batman mayor Huseyin Kalkan said, "There is only one Batman in the world. The American producers used the name of our city without informing us."

The mayor has also accused the movie studio for a large number of unsolved murders and high female suicide rate since the film came out. Apparently they are due to the heavy psychological impact the film's success has had on Batman's citizens!

It's also been claimed that the inhabitants of Batman face a struggle registering their businesses abroad, reports Variety.

Kalkan insists he is working on securing evidence that will show the city of Batman was there before the comic book character made his debut in 1939.

Warner Bros replied with a statement, saying, "We are only aware of this claim via press reports and have not seen any actual legal action."
