The "church in the wilderness" was the nation of Israel and hardly compares at all to the church which is the Body of Christ.

This is true... I agree completely.

However... The Church which was at Jerusalem fits that catagory also. Neither of them hardly compare to the Church which is the Body of Christ.

DIFFERENCES:

The Church at Jerusalem:

Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

The Church which is the Body of Chirst:

Ephesians 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

The Church which was at Jerusalem was keeping the ordinances... for the Church the Body of Christ, the ordinances have been abolished (although the Corinthians did have four to keep for a reason and eventually they also were done away with also).

The Church at Jerusalem:

Matthew 5:5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

Matthew 6:10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

The Church at Jerusalem is looking for the kingdom to come to the earth.

The Church which is the Body of Christ:

Colossians 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

We are not asking for things to be done on earth as they are in Heaven... we are going to Heaven.

The Church which was at Jerusalem:

Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

The Church which was at Jerusalem was a fulfilling of known prophecy.

The Church the Body of christ:

Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
