I have taken some pics of my lower radiator hose/heater hose converter (the one with the heater hose nipple cast into it) as the hose is no longer available from Nissan, let me know if you would like to see them.

   Helo

Gates  cataloge  has listings for both upper and lower radiator  hoses.
Flexible hose listed for top is better.

The heater hose fitting can be removed from the old hose and installed on
the new hose with some delicate surgury.

Radiator Hose lower:

At Advance AutoParts, 70623CS
This is a 1-3/4" hose. They let me go through their shelves checking all the hoses, and this is the one that I found that will make a perfect fit. It's intalled in my Patrol.

Sit in the driver's seat (seriously). Look at the shifter. On the transmission cover just in front of the shifter, towards the engine, is a round metal cover. Pry off the cover. Get a flashlight and look down in the hole ( you might need to switch to the passenger side for this part). In the hole is a dip stick. You have to unscrew the dipstick. This is where you check the level, and also where you fill it from.
