Comments: Hello to all you fellow patrol owners. we just brought home our newest member to our family of Volkswagens a thing called a Nissan patrol. Not too many people ever heard of them. Boy, are our volksies pretty jealous of that new tank. If any one should have some information on these awesome machines it would be greatly appreciated. Ours is a 1964.its pretty stock as far as we know. We love it already that knows when we ever drive the bus again! Anyway thanks for any information that can be sent our way. We would love to find an owners manual for it. Well have a beautiful day remember to smile and we'll see you on the moon in our moon patrol

Comments: I’ve got a 69 Kl60 Patrol I picked up at a used car lot. Its in fairly good shape. Never new they existed! Right now I’m in research mode, which lead me to this site. Imagine that!! Needless to say, I joined the club. I’d like to upgrade the power train. Looking for the most popular engine/tranny swaps as well as axle upgrades to increase durability as well as parts availability. Happy "patrolling".

Comments: Really enjoy how you have taken this page and really made it informational and lots of great pictures. We have 3 Partols, right now just sitting in the back yard, 2 running, but with no time to do anything with them right now. We do have our 67 in our web page climbing waterfalls with the So. Nevada Landcruiser club of Las Vegas, reluctantly, they didn't think it would keep up with Cruisers, how wrong they were. Again great pages

Comments: I found that Motorcare 4WD based out of Australia can hook you up with a suspension upgrade made by Ironman. It comes complete with (4) shocks, shackles, leafs, hardware, and steering damper for about $1530 Australian currency. Conversion $1 Aus = $0.635 USA. Still somewhat pricey and don't forget cost of freight. But it's the only aftermarket supplier of suspensions components specifically for the patrol that I've found yet. I'm tempted to purchase the kit in the near future.

I am glad to see that there are others in the US that are still driving Patrols. This is an excellent site and many of my questions have been answered. I look forward to learning more from this site in the future. Great Job!!!

Comments: There are more patrols out there! Cool. Just like to say that I own a 1987 MQ short wheelbase Patrol
Discription: It has a hardtop (removable), in-line 6, 3.3 turbo diesel. just spent 4grand on a thorough paint job, sort of a navy blue. Panasonic (rebel gear) cd player is about all the electronics that this beast contains. Just added 31x10.5 tires on CSA mags (i had 33x12's on it and it looked killer, but they were too loud.) it’s got a bush bar up front and chrome fog lamps. the kilometers on it are only at 100,000 (I’m Canadian) just broken in. Future additions in consideration are OME suspension, k&n filter, tints. Any tips on how to increase the performance of a diesel? Relatively cheaply? Are there any other Patrols in Canada? Love to hear from ya. Nice site, thanks

Comments: Hey, fellow Patrolers. My name is Ryan and I am the proud owner of a 69n Patrol that is partly restored. I have put a 78 restored P40 in it and a new five-speed trani from Marks in Australia. I still have the old trani. My question is that, is there any way to raise the high end. I am now in college in Los Angeles and want to keep the car here, but the freeway speeds kill the engine and car in general. I would like to use the car for recreational reasons alone but right now that is not possible. If anyone has any suggestions, please right me back. Thanks, Ryan

Comments: The distributor breaker plate (the piece the point actually mount to) moving away from the breaker cam as the points are trying to open is the reason these things burn up the points (contacts). The more precisely the contacts make and break the better the service life you’ll get from them?Things I did to fix this problem with the OEM dist: 1) make sure there is a flexible grounding pig tail to take contact current to ground rather than its having to travel thru the vacuum advance pivot mechanism. 2) Remove the breaker plate assy from the distributor and shim the slop out of the two plates by removing the clip from underneath them, which holds them together and put a suitable shim between the clip and the bottom of the bottom plate. 3) Lube the rubbing block of the contacts with appropriate grease.

I bought it about 2 1/2 years ago right before the engine blew. OUCH!!. Body in great condition. Front bumper is custom to hold huge winch. Have plans to get new springs and shackles from Ironman and possible lift. New bucket seats. Repaint it silver with black anodized diamond-plate around fenders. Would like to fit Rover D90 safari rack on top. New rims and bigger tires eventually. Currently in the in the process of rewiring for dual battery for more accessories later - lights, winch, radio, etc. Love the truck but hate the 3sp tranny. Have gotten parts from 4WD in Australia in a pinch. Pricey freight though.

Comments: I have a '69 KL60 that I am just about done restoring. The dealer has been great to me, if your local dealer isn't cooperative, try 612-475-3939 ask for Randy in parts. I have brand new rear sliding window rubber that I had custom extruded at $5 a foot (you need about 15 for both windows). Jim Morrow has been a great parts source for me too ([email protected]), so check him out. I am afraid my Patrol is never going to see off road for preservation purposes, though I do use my '73 Land Rover wheeling. I also own an '85 CJ-7, and my husband owns an FJ-40 and FJ-45. Comments: Have been wanting a 4X4 for a while. I’m interested in the utilitarian aspects of the machine. I have a yard full of 720 P/Us & 3 SD22 2X4 drive trains; also lines on SD33 Turbo ex Scout set-ups. My OEM "P" engine is Sat with the exception of the intake manifold which has "swollen up like a poisoned pup" and busted on the area of carb and exhaust manifold attachment. Has any body out there done any engine swaps with the Nissan SD22 or SD33 engines? Does anyone have a "P" engine intake or intake-exhaust manifold they would be willing to step off of.

Comments: I recently bought a Patrol and I am starting to gather as much info as I can about them before I start the restoration process. All I know about it is that is a 69Patrol and it appears that most of the stock parts are on and it is in great shape, I paid 1,000 dollars for it. I would love any links, phone number, or reference info I can get my hands on. Thank You John

Comments: FOR SALE: 69 and 67 Patrols. 69 has only 15,000 original miles on it, and has been sitting for at least the last 20 years, still has good compression and not much rust. The 67 needs a bit of work but is still restorable, or can be used for parts. I need money for going back to school so I need to sell them both. I will sell the two of them for $6900.00 o.b.o. This also comes with a spare set of diff's.

Comments: I own a 1967 Patrol. It's in pretty good shape throughout except for some rust. Most parts are available through the Dealer, and what ones are not, can be bought from aftermarket parts outlets or salvage yards in Australia. Just search under "Nissan Patrol parts" in any search engine and you'll find 'em. good luck!

Comments: I have a 69 Nissan patrol with the hard top. It has a winch, aluminum wheels and forest green paint otherwise it is all stock. The engine is burning a lot of oil and is in need of a rebuild. Also I broke the left rear axle while out four wheeling last time, so I am looking for a axle or complete rear end. I am tempted to swap the entire running gear from an older bronco or something. Any ideas?

Comments: Amazing! A Nissan Patrol club in the U.S. I thought the day would never come. I own a 1967 Patrol, which is almost entirely stock. I did have a custom roll bar made for it, which looks pretty good. I get many parts, especially for the engine, through, Nissan. Nissan is very good at keeping parts available for their old cars. Does anyone know where to get new rubber for the rear sliding windows? That is one part I have not found anywhere.

Comments: Hello all, I recently purchased two Nissan Patrols. One is a 67 soft top and the other is a 68 hard. The 67 was in the best shape so that’s the one I’m restoring. I really fell in love with them and am looking forward to getting th 67 on the road. I am however having some difficulty locating parts. Does anyone know where I can find some basic stuff like shocks or starters, parking lights, air-oil filters etc....? I was hoping that someone knows where to find them or knows some parts that crossover. For example, a shock for a series 3 landy or a jeep cj7 will work on a patrol. If any one has a parts/accessories source please let me know. I'm really looking forward to getting to know you all and can't wait to share some stories and tips. Comments: I was just surfing the web looking for some parts for our 1965 Patrol. It was nice to see a Patrol club that wasn't located in Australia. We have a fairly stock short wheelbase, similar to the pictures on the website. We are interested in getting more information on obtaining new and used parts in the U.S. I was curious if your club has contact information for parts. Just for fun, we'll send a picture of our rig next time we get a chance to take one.
