Fedex and UPS are both authorized to ship firearms, yet it seems they don't tell their employees anything about it. I have shipped guns before, but I forgot how and noone will help me. Any ideas?

DJ, Google "mailing firearms" and there is a definitive article on federal regs and also includes UPS and FEDEX requirements.

Did that, Colin, and finally got someone who spoke English as a first language and he squared me away. Thanks!

According to Fedex, my package (.32) was delivered to Cobra Enterprises of Utah at 0845 this morning!

Just got off the phone with Cobra and the repair tech had just logged in my gun and would have it fixed and ready to ship back to me by tomorrow, so I'll probably get it back by Monday or Tuesday.

*sigh* Why do I even bother? It's going up on a shelf to collect dust and cobwebs. If it wasn't such a pain in the caboose with all those minor "things", it would be such a nifty little piece! *sniff*

As of 0900, a pretty little thing from Fedex, arrived at my door and delivered my FS32 from Cobra Firearms. I checked it out, all is in good working order and they even sent a new magazine-free-to go along with it. I kinda hate to pack it away after all they did to it and honoring their warranty completely. Gonna take it out to the range and shoot up 100 rounds, clean it, then pack it away!

The dirty little secret about FedEx and UPS on shipping pistols is that they have had a lot of thefts by employees in the past.  That is why there are special handling requirements for them.

Long arms don't seem to be as much a problem (due to size, probably), but both have tightened up their shipping rules considerably due to internal theft problems.  From what my dealer tells me, both are very safe shippers now.  However, the increased security is reflected in the shipping costs.
