Mia is a 5 month old, female Thai Ridgeback, who came to The Mayhew from a breeder whose relationship had broken down, leaving no time to sell Softy and her three siblings. Mia is a very frightened little girl, who shakes with fear when approached and is extremely under-socialized with people and other animals. She does not appear to be at all used to human contact, is not toilet-trained, is only now learning about toys and is experiencing walking on a lead for the first time. Everything is new to this sweet-natured dog, and she will need to be gently coaxed out of her shell. Even after intensive socialization, it seems probable she will always be timid of strangers. We do not know how she copes with being left alone. She will need to go to training classes and will need one to two hours of off-lead exercise every day, initially on a 100ft training line until her confidence improves and her recall is perfected. Owing to her nervousness, any young people in her new home should be sixteen years old and upwards. She has had no socialisation around other dogs.

Here is the other one, called "Softy". She is rehomed but I thought this was interesting. Softy is a 5 month old, female Thai Ridgeback, who came to The Mayhew from a breeder whose relationship had broken down, leaving no time to sell Softy and her three siblings. Softy is a very frightened little girl, who shakes with fear when approached and is extremely under-socialized with people and other animals. Owing to her nervousness, any young people in her new home should be sixteen years old and upwards. She has had no socialisation around other dogs. Softy is looking for a loving new home with someone who has owned medium-to-large breed dogs before and who will have the patience and understanding, and the great deal of time, needed, to dedicate to training and socializing this frightened soul and giving her a new, secure start in life. Her new guardians will be taking on a fifteen-year commitment, which must not be taken lightly. Related Listing Info: located south east england training required

And another of the littermates; Samouk is a 6 month old, male Thai Ridgeback, who came to The Mayhew from a breeder whose relationship had broken down, leaving no time to sell Samouk and his three siblings. Samouk is a timid lad is extremely under-socialized with people and other animals. He previously did not appear to be at all used to human contact. His confidence however has improved whilst being at The Mayhew. His new guardian will need to continue his socialisation and take him to training classes. He has only recently learnt how to walk on a lead and collar, is starting to enjoy his toys and is now toilet trained. Everything is new to this sweet-natured dog, and he will need to be gently coaxed out of his shell. Even after intensive socialization, it seems probable he will always be timid of strangers. We do not know how he copes with being left alone. He will need one to two hours of off-lead exercise every day, initially on a 100ft training line until his confidence improves. Owing to his nervousness, any young people in his new home should be sixteen years old and upwards. He is good with other dogs that he knows. He would happily live with a confident and well-behaved, female dog. Samouk is looking for a loving new home with someone who has owned medium-to-large breed dogs before and who will have the patience and understanding, and the great deal of time, needed, to dedicate to training and socializing this timid soul and giving him a new, secure start in life. His new guardians will be taking on a fifteen-year commitment, which must not be taken lightly. |

Did anyone ever get the whole story on this? Where are the sire and dam? Isn't there also some severe hip issues with these poor pups? |
