Although, I can trace my military heritage to the British Army in India (1800's) on the Allen side, here is a twist. This is my Great Uncle, Steven Downs from the USA. In a nutshell, although I am Australian, I was born in Canada to Canadian parents, but both my Mother and Father's mothers were born in the USA. Hence, I have American blood in me. I don't know much about Steven, with the exception he was killed, when he was hit my a train sometime in the late 1800's. Apparently he enjoyed his whisky, and got carried away one night. If anyone can identify the era, the unit, or even the rifle and the medal he has on, please email me. Thanks. |
