Eric and Chuck exchanged looks, and as though Chuck gave him the nod of approval to go first, he spoke up.

"Serena, I'm sorry," he said sincerely and as he approached her, he got this pity inducing look in his blue eyes that begged her to forgive him without even hearing any reason.

Serena, however, certainly wasn't in the mood for forgiveness, so she swung her head around, blonde locks being flipped over her shoulder and asked,"Why?! Why didn't you tell me? We talked on the phone all this time and you pretended everything was okay."

"Seren-"

"I would have returned immediately, I'm sure dad would have understood," she interjects and then gazes down upon him. "Why would you ever do this to me, Eric?"

Just then, Jenny bursted out of Eric's bedroom looking uncomfortable, her face was flushed. She had been listening this entire time but desperately needed to go back and put the finishing touches on her dress for the big party. With the eyes of a hawk, Chucked eyed her, a smirk on his face.

"I guess someone has been staying.. after hours," he states with a smug look on his face. "Just put in a few more, sweet Jenny. You'll soon be able to attach the Bass name to your resume. Isn't that what your aiming for?"

"Shut up." Serenas says, speaking for Jenny, as she always did.

There is an awkward silence but Jenny breaks the ice with some bad news, for Eric only.

"I can't stay tonight, I have to get my dress ready." Eyeing Serena and Chuck, she realizes they are in the midst of an argument and cuts her excuse short. "I'll see you tomorrow at the party, okay?"

She quickly exits and Chuck looks after her intently but the conversation continues on as though that whole situation never occured.

"So why did you do it, Eric?" Serena repeats, calmer than before. She was never one to yell at her little brother but she really wanted to know why.

Eric then hung his head low and explained why hemysteriously forgot to inform Serena that Nathaniel Archibald slipped into a long slumber called comatose. "The very second I heard of Nate's accident, I wanted to get on the phone and tell you all about it, perhaps it would make you come back and I wouldn't miss you anymore," says Eric with a subtle pout.

"What made you change your mind?" asked a rather curious Chuck from behind.

Looking over his shoulder at Chuck first, he then turns his head back towards his dear sister.

"Well, you could say I didn't feel like being selfish, it semed that way at the time. During our first conversation over the phone, you sounded rather content with your current lifestyle in Belguim with daddy. I didn't want to take that away from you," explains Eric innocently. He was being completely honest here.

Serena's face fell, she almost wanted to hug her brother but he wasn't done explaining.

"What happened to Nate was certainly unfair, I felt bad for him, but at the same time, I didn't want you to worry about it. I just wanted the best for you and after what Chuck told me.." turning his head momentarily to look at Chuck, he continues, "that Nate was the reason you left, I became enraged."

Serena glares at Chuck Bass who simply shrugs.

"I'm sorry if I was being selfish, I guess it must have hurt Nate when he assumed you didn't show up because you didn't care. It was all my fault."
