Lily van der Woodsen had invited Jolene to Serena's little birthday bash, under the assumption that she was still a friend of her son's, and Manhattan's most dramatic supermodel seized the opportunity to arrive and rub it in his face. As far as the birthday girl was concerned, Jolene had made peace with her despite Georgina's constant protests. Naturally, this would infuriate the devil's advocate but Jolene didn't see much harm in it. It was an undeniable fact that the Queen made up her own mind about things and from what she could tell, Georgie was simply envious of Serena and her effortless charm. And although Jolene was partly using her newfound "friendship" with S to get to her brother, she appreciated the fact that Serena remained nice to her despite her constant taunting.

"Jolene!" a voice called from behind her. It was Kati Farkas rushing towards her but in the elegance she carried herself with this evening, it seemed like she was simply walking. Isabell Coates was not too far behind her. "Is it true that you and Georgina are at war now?" blurted out Blair's minion with a smirk upon her face.

"Excuse me?" Jolene snapped back, the expression on her face wasn't too pleasant. Not wanting to face the catty twosome at the moment, she twirled around in her blue strapless Dior dress that hugged her rather gaunt figure and emphasized on her barely there breasts.

"You heard me, you whore," Kati continued using a low but hostile tone, enough to get Jolene's attention again.

The supermodel wondered what came over these two suddenly but didn't care to ask out loud, answers always came easily to her. Facing the minions again, she disguised her smirk quite well into a smile as Lily van der Woodsen's eyes had suddenly been set on her for that mere moment and she was well aware of it. "The two of you really need to stop reading gossip girl and get a grasp on real life. But since you bitches have that curiousity which kills a cat, I'll let you in on the secret. Georgina and my relationship is just fine. We totally love each other."

The girls let out a soft chuckle with prompts Jolene to roll her eyes.

"Oh, and since this is Serena's party and she's like, so deserving of peace, I'd suggest that the two of you try and refrain from causing any drama."

"o0o0o," Isabel chimes in dramatically. "The plot thickens."

"Why are you so defensive of Serena van der Woodsen all of a sudden. Does the queen support Serena now?"

"Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama are practically the same to me," says Jolene upon turning on her Jimmy Choos to make a quick escape from these two hags but before she can, she twists her head back for second and concludes, "I know why you two are here."

Not even catching the expressions on their faces after that, she hurries away but something vibrates against her ankle. It's her cellphone, conveniently placed over the straps of her heels a la Hilary Duff in a cinderella story, which makes abrupt movement and slowly slides off the straps and into her thin long hands. Glancing at the call display, she sees an unidentified caller trying to reach her a such a wrong time. Who else could it be, she thought. Georgina Sparks wasn't invited to Serena's small get together because of the little dinner she had at the van der Woodsen household prior to this day, one which she recapped with Jolene and then assured her that she was the last hope she had as a friend. Maybe Jolene was also using this opportunity to spy on Serena and report back to her arch nemisis, or not.

Flipping the phone open, Jolene grumbles into it. "I'm at a party!" she said irritated.

"My bad," said the voice on the other end, not sounding like Georgina at all. For a second, Jolene looked perplexed until she finally recognized who it was.

"Zarah?" she called, this time sweetly.

"Yeah?" confirmed Zee.

"Oh, I'm sorry," continued Jolene in her sweetest voice. "I thought you were someone else. I guess I should program your number into this phone huh?" she asked, her hand over her head. The last thing she wished to do was make Zarah feel like she had a problem with her. That only led to suspicions and would soon end up with Zarah finding out about Jolene and her dad.

"It's cool. I didn't know you were busy, I just wanted to call and see if you recognized this number I had gotten a weird text from."

Jolene squints her eyes for a second, trying to come up with some excuse or the other to bow out of that one as she didn't know what to do about it at the time. "You know what Zarah sweetie?" she responds in the same voice as before, no crack in it at all. "I'll totally come by your house later and talk to you about it then. Your dad will be home right?" she asks stupidly and then her hand automatically comes back and slaps her forehead. What the hell was she thinking asking that, she thought.

"Yeah." Zarah said plainly as though it was an everyday question.

"Okay doll Toodles!" Jolene suddenly exclaimed and then hung up. She quickly tucked the phone back where it came from but by then, someone else came her way. She spotted Eric in the distance, he wasn't exactly that far but it was obvious he was trying to keep away from her, especially with his girlfriend within a two mile radius. One thing was certain though, he couldn't keep his eyes off her. Perhaps it was the attraction he felt towards her or he just wanted to keep an eye on her incase she decided to jeapordize Serena's birthday. Sometimes she wished he would give her the benefit of the doubt. She now looked directly at him and they got caught up in each other's eyes but the expressions on each other's face gave away the fact that all wasn't gravy. Jolene immediately broke the stare down by gazing elsewhere and there, she found her jackpot.

Running swiftly towards the birthday girl, Jolene screamed her name sweetly. "Serenieee!"

The blonde immediately flipped her head in Jolene's direction as the green eyed brunette approached her and her boyfriend Nate.

"Serena!" she yelled again as though she had not heard her the first time. "omigod, it's your 18th birthday. Happy Birthday!" continued Jolene excitedly. She made she tilt her head to the side and from the corner of her eye, she caught Eric looking at them. This immediately put her in a good mood.

"Thanks," Serena responded but not as enthusiastic as Jolene. Actually, she was less than enthusiastic at the moment but managed to mask it with a smile just to seem courteous.

"I love your dress!" Jolene continued to be cheerful although she noted Serena's mood. She doubted the birthday girl would be rude to her and wanted to give her the gift the got. "It's ironic how you're wearing Chanel right now because I have something from Chanel for you."

Handing the birthday girl a pink box, Jolene waits for her to open it and then insists that she do it right that moment. Still managing to keep the smile on her face, Serena gently opens the box and finds..

A cream chanel flipbag made of ostrich leather, going for the retail price of nearly eight thousand dollars made it's way out of the box in Serena's hand. Even Nate seemed happy upon seeing it.

"Wow, thank you." Serena said sincerely this time.

"I so thought of you when seeing that bag and from then I just knew you had to have it." Jolene muttered. She looked at Serena and wondered, hoped that she could like her. This sudden need of approval came only because she knew that Jenny was more favored by the van der Woodsen's than she was and if she ever got into a relationship with Eric again, she knew it would be quite the challenge to impress them after her previous actions. "Enjoy." said Jolene before she turned away with an even bigger smile. She could hear Lily gushing over the bag from behind too.

Eric, however, was nowhere to be found and she wondered if he had managed to see that.

the upper east side's W I C K E D WITCH*

Eric van der Woodsen was not too far behind as Georgina Sparks threatened his former friend in Jolene and unbeknownst to our little Georgie, he seemed to have heard every word out of her mouth. Although Georgina could spot anyone in a large crowd as her eyes desired, she didn't see Eric there as he appeared to be rather invisible this evening. He figured that it was a big day for his older sister and just wanted to assure that her 18th birthday went smoothly. He also knew that his mother credulously invited Georgina Sparks to the party and that only meant trouble so he decided that he'd keep a rather close eye on the bitch who wanted nothing more than to take down his closest family member.

"Pretty impressive," he said suddenly, almost startling Georgina as she began to dial Trevor's number. She stopped immediately and snapped her phone shut, glaring at him.

"Can I help you?" asked Georgina with a bitchy, and quite obvious, tone.

"Oh, I'm quite certain there's nothing you could possibly do to HELP me," he said, his voice the same as before which either showed her that he wasn't threatened or easily irritated. "or my family."

Then he shot her a look that completely mystified her. This wasn't a side of Eric van der Woodsen Georgina or anyone else had ever seen before and she was quite shocked.

"My sister might have been nice to you in the past, she might have tolerated you and now it's surprising that she even lets you take one breath of the same air she breathes but I've known what you were like when I saw your cold, pale face."

She continued to glare at him as he spoke those words but then she lost her composure and started to chuckle loudly. From afar, one would have guessed that Eric just cracked a joke and Georgina was highly amused by it.

"And what am I like, little Eric?" she inquired, smirking at him.

"You're just jealous of my sister and you're so transparent, even Alexander James Scott can see right through you."

Now she looks enraged. Biting on her her lower lip and clenching her fists that hung at her sides, she looks like she's about to crush the scrawny little van der Woodsen in front of her but instead, she takes a deep breath and smiles to herself.

"Why would I be jealous of your slut of a sister? Listen Eric, I don't know what kind of rock you've been living under or whether you're just ignorant of what your sister truly is but she's no better than Jolene or Blair. She fucked her best friend's boyfriend for starters and now she's going to fuck Alexander James Scott. Why else do you think she's turned him into.. Chuck Bass?" Georgina says upon taking a second glance at Alexander. "Why does she feel such an obligation to him suddenly? It's obviously the guilt of sleeping with him and I can guarantee that if she hasn't already she will soon."

"Serena may have made some mistakes in the past, she's only human," Eric corrects. "You don't know my sister the way I do and you never will. You're simply jealous because people like her better than they like you. Even your best friend Jolene wants to hang out with my sister more now."

She laughs once again and now it becomes obvious that Eric is merely a joke to her and she has no regard for anything he says either way. But that won't stop him from letting her know exactly how he feels.

"Jolene is no friend of mine."

"Of course, she isn't," Eric continues. "The only reason that girl hangs out with you is because you bribed her right? You didn't think I knew, did you? Do you really think you can control me, Georgina?"

"I don't think, I know." Georgina snaps. "And while it's cute to see you standing up for Jolene, you really don't know what she's like. You don't know what she's attempted to do to you."

"I think I know Jolene more than you do, Georgina. Any dirty secrets you want to tell me? Oh, I know all of those too." He now leans in and almost whispers to her, not wanting anyone else to hear. "I know about her parents so anything you tell me about Jolene Marciano won't surprise me."

Georgina shoots Eric an even bigger smile. If only he knew, she thought. Perhaps she would save what she was going to say for another time, granted Jolene screws up again.

"One can never truly tell," she says flatly but it comes off as cold to Eric, like everything she's said to him. "But don't worry your little head about Jolene anymore. I'm sure you're quite the humanitarian like your sister, picking beggars off the street and doing the horizontal mambo with them, only you're more open about it. By the way, where is Cinderella? Have you left her inside with all the expensive jewelry?"

"Why don't you let me handle my business and you handle yours? In the meantime, stay away from my sister, especially today." said Eric and then turned away from the pale brunette. Although he had walked off then, he still looked out for the upper east side's witch throughout the rest of the party.

the SHAPE of things to come*

His jaw had dropped. His mind did not allow him to believe it but his eyes pointed in the direction of truth. Not the truth that his sister had sexual intercourse with Nathaniel Archibald and it was just broadcasted for the "entertainment" of family and friends, but the audacity that Nate fellow had to tape it. Not only that but his very own step brother, Chuck Bass was the one to publicize this video tape on Serena's own birthday. He was truly infuriated that this would leave his older sister, as well as their mother, scarred for the years to come on this otherwise special occasion.

Just then, Jenny Humphrey, who had excused herself momentarily to be elsewhere before this fiasco went down, was now approaching him. She wore not an emotion similar to his but one of complete confusion. For a second, he smiled genuinely at her. These past few weeks had been pure bliss for the young couple as Jenny was out of the spotlight, despite the fact that many wanted to tear into her and were still clawing away at her. He was quite impressed with the low profile she had kept and how modest the form was that her once fragile frame had grown into.

"What's going on?" she asked credulously, as though she hadn't a clue.

Eric gazed at her for a few more seconds, trying to rehash the past few minutes and put them all into one simple sentence but he failed miserably. "Beats me," he said finally. It was actually true. Eric van der Woodsen simply had no idea how an event as sour as this managed to take place on his siter's birthday. He wasn't shocked that some of the upper east side's most vindictive had participated in this as they capitalized on Serena's weakness and exploited her faults as though they themselves were infallible. The names of Georgina Sparks, Blair Waldorf and Nathaniel Archibald ran through his mind, angering him but he immediately shrugged it off like he didn't care anymore.

Why should he give these people his time of the day when his main concern should be looking for his sister and ensuring that she's fine.

"Are you okay?" asked Jenny after noticing the tension in his face.

He hadn't realized this yet but her hand had crawled into his as they shared these moments of silence together, not knowing what to say to each other. Nodding his head, he assured her that everything was fine but then excused himself claiming he had some business to take care of. As he was attempting to rush out of the party, his mother caught up with him.

"Where do you think you're going, young man?" she asked in a questionable tone. The obvious anger juxtaposed with shame and disbelief almost made it seem like she was about to cry but she remained composed.

"I'm going to find Serena," he declared, no trace of anger in his voice. It was like he was simply telling her and she had to comply with it.

"No, son," she responded in the same tone. "You're not."

Now the emotions started to flow as he grimaced and like a child, almost pleading with her to let him go.

"I need to see if she's okay, mom." She shook her head, not in approval but disapproval. "She's not thinking straight right now and I know it! I need to find her because I have a feeling that something dangerous is about to happen."

Although what he was saying could have been true, Lily did not allow him to leave.

"The last thing I'd want is for my son to be there as well. Eric, I think you should stay at home, stay with Jenny. You're too young to be concerned with all this and should not let it affect you. I know that you're still healing from those wounds and the last thing I want is for all of this to put you over the edge." She said that with much concern for him and he understood it. "Alexander has gone to fetch Serena from wherever she ran off to," Lily added, causing Eric's blue, meek eyes to shoot waves of anger out that was rather well displayed on his face.

"Why not?" he asked sarcastically. "Send the danger to her."

"Look, I get why you'd be worried about her and Alexander, I would be too. But this situation is out of control and I trust Serena. Alexander seems to care about her, he insists it. So you, Eric van der Woodsen, will stay right here. Leave the dirty work to him."

Eric looked at her for a minute. Something really seemed to be off but he couldn't tell why. He hoped that the trust Lily had in Alexander James Scott didn't end up being betrayed.
