Eric van der Woodsen was always one to arrive fashionably late for parties thrown
for the upper east siders and it seems that these late comings were for a reason.
It was either the hand of God or natural good luck that kept Eric away from the
drama that was regularly scheduled to start as early as Jolene or Georgina entered
the venue. However, this time, everything seemed to be as calm as possible as Eric
slowly slipped into the white party. He was dressed in all white, though that comes
as no surprise and he seemed to be the only one that embodied the pureness this
type of clothing was usually meant for.
"Looking for Jenny?" a voice from behind interrupted his train of thought. He
knew at once who it was and he turned around, a smile on his face, to greet Jolene
Marciano who was surprising quiet during this time. Even with her friend Tallulah
denHayden within a two mile radius, she didn't seem to have stirred something up.
"One would think," he responds casually.
"They would be right," Jolene continued, holding a smirk on her face. "You two
always seemed to be joint at the hip."
Rolling his eyes, he cuts her off before she starts again.
"Jolene, stop it!" he orders. Her face falls immediately and she gazes at him, for the
first time in forever with fear written all over her previously radiant face. Eric van
der Woodsen wasn't one to yell or demand anything from his peers but something
seemed to be on his mind this entire time. Even she felt this sudden dark energy
surrounding him. "Sorry," he apologizes promptly after seeing the expression on
her face. "I'm just really not in the mood for sarcasm and snide comments. If you
really understood the roller coaster ride my family goes through every other
week you would drop all this unneeded drama, Jo."
She placed her hand on his shoulder sympathetically. "Everything okay?" she
inquired sincerely.
"Obviously not," he replies and then the two take a seat somewhere, completely
ignoring the music and people around them while having this talk. "I caught my
sister and brother arguing in the lobby, as did the other people who were simply
passers-by at one point. To them, it was a joke seeing the two fighting that intensly
but to me, it was everything. I couldn't believe the words coming out of their
mouths. My own step brother who I've trusted all along threatened to ruin my life
in order to hurt Serena. I should of seen this coming, especially after he tried to
hook up with you." Buring his face inside his palms now, one wouldn't be sure if
he was crying or not. Of course he wasn't! Although Eric was usually sweet, he
possessed more strength and will power than most of the upper east siders who
so easily broke composure.
"I'm sorry," says Jolene unaware of how to react to all this. "What did you say to
him?"
"Nothing," Eric replied. "Chuck won't be around for a while and I tried to
convince mom not to send Serena away."
"Why would she?" Jolene questions as though past events had slipped her mind.
They really had, especially with the robbery she had experienced the night
before. "I mean, look at her," she says gesturing for him to take a look at
his sister who was currently spotted dancing with Trevor, and she seemed to be
having a great time. "She seems to be doing fine."
Shrugging his shoulders, Eric was about to say something in response but decided
against it. The two of them then just sat there awkwardly, not making conversation
for about five minutes until Eric asked: "So how have you been Jolene?"
"Great!" she exclaimed as though suddenly happy. "I mean, I've been focusing
more on school work, trying to get my grades up and everything."
"That's great," Eric said and he meant it. It never occured to him that Jolene would
ever entertain thoughts of changing for the better.
"I've been tutored by Dr Dawson a lot this past week," she brags but his attention
is suddenly focused elsewhere. Even Jolene catches Jenny Humphrey looking at
them, some other girl at her side.
Eric jumps up and heads towards Jenny, not even bothering to end his
conversation with Jolene properly. She frowns but he doesn't see it.
"Sorry I'm late," he said upon kissing her and then looking at the new girl. "Um hi."
"Oh, this is Amelie," Jenny says, "I just met her." The two of them gaze down at
Jenny's ruined dress. "Amilie, this is my boyfriend Eric van der Woodsen."
The french girl takes Eric's hand and shakes it. "It is so nice to meet you. Zee boys
here are very, how you say, handsome."
Eric exchanges pleasentries with the girl and begins having a conversation with
the two of them.
Authors note: To the girl who plays Amilie Bellerose, I hope I didn't mess up your
character.
