Merry Meet Everyone and Welcome to The Chakras! On this board we will be discussing your chakras, developing them, meditations, yoga, correspondences and all kinds of other fun stuff! Mind you that chakra theory is just that - theory. So please do not subsitute anything shared here for medical advice from your physician or healer. This is a space for opening and sharing information not diagnosis of any sort! We will start first with a brief overview of your chakra system and then dive a little deeper into each of them. What are Chakras? Within each of us are centers of energy that mind our physical, mental, emotional and psychological well being. There are 7 major centers or chakras and the aura around you can be considered a chakra as well. You can imagine these centers as swirling wheels within you, keeping your vital lifeforce - or prana - flowing throughout the body. Each of the chakras has spiritual aspects to be learned on this journey of life. And like all journeys, this is a dynamic one, so there is no set path to working with your chakras. At times you can feel these chakras at work. For example, right now, think of someone beloved to you - a friend, child, family member, yourself, God or Goddess. Place your hands over your heart center - right there in the middle of your chest. And now, thinking of your beloved, close your eyes and just feel and breathe. At first you may have felt your heartbeat. But then as the heartbeat begins to expand, the whole chest cavity fills with pulsation. The image of your beloved opened the 4th chakra - the heart center - as love most often does to this lovely center! Briefly the chakras are: 1st - Root Chakra: located under the base of the spine in the perinium. That is the space between the anus and vagina or scrotum. If you contract your PC muscle (the one that stops the flow of urine) you can feel where the 1st chakra lies. 2nd - Sacral Chakra: lies in the pelvis above the pubic bone but beneath the navel. 2nd chakra is the seat of our creativity and pro-creativity. 3rd - Solar Plexus Chakra: above the belly button but below the diaphragm is your 3rd chakra. This is the chakra of the sun and building this chakra helps us to claim our personal power. 4th - Heart Chakra: lies beneath the sternum in the middle of the chest. Heart chakra opens us to love and compassion. The heart chakra is also the gateway between the lower 3 more physical chakras and the upper three more cerebral chakras. 5th - Throat Chakra: located at the base of the throat where the thyroid gland lives. Throat chakra promotes balance of speaking and listening and opens you more fully to your truth. 6th - Third Eye Chakra: located at the third eye - the space between the eyebrows. This is the seat of your inuition and inner wisdom. Third eye is often considered the eye that can see both inside and outside the self. 7th - Crown Chakra: this chakra eminates out of the crown of the skull. It's symbol is a thousand petalled lotus. The image that I conjure with this chakra is a purple lotus flower sprouting from the crown of my head, shooting out cascades of protective white light that flow out and around me. Crown chakra connects us with divinity and the oneness of the universe. I do hope you will join us on our exploration of this system of energy inside our wonderful selves. Blessings always Lady Majyk |

~ Chakras ~ What are Chakras? The word 'chakra' is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning 'wheel'; but perhaps even a better translation would be spinning wheel. If you could see chakras (as many of us whom work with them do) you would be able to see each primary chakra as a spinning vortex or wheel of energy; spinning inward from the front of your body towards the center point of that chakra on the kunilini and then spinning outward from that same point from your back. Chakra Locations The chakras start at the base of the spine and go up through the head on the kunilini which is located almost on your spinal column. The kunilini is shaped like a staff and many have mentioned that the Twenty-third Psalm of The Bible is speaking of the kunilini. Almost all religions believe in the spiritual and energy power points within the human body and these power points are called chakras. There are seven primary or main chakra points with about a hundred smaller secondary chakras. The smaller points are often called meridians and are used during acupuncture to attune the Chi flow. The secondary chakra points are influenced with action and physicality while the seven primary chakras deal with emotions and spirituality. The primary chakras influence your health greatly, the health concerns related to them are caused by an unbalance in the chakra itself, from an emotional or spiritual cause, which then manifests into a physical ailment. Chakra Healing Each chakra relates strongly to a specific part of the body, specific emotions, mental, and spiritual concerns. Seven Chakras Health/Body Collation Chart Vibrations of Chakras Each chakra has a different frequency of vibration, symbol, color, and sound that it is attuned to. When the chakra is balanced, clear, and energized it would be in tune and play the most wonderful sound of it’s own, emitting the proper vibration for that chakra. Many things can effect the vibrations including sounds of voice, drums, music, chants, mantras, the vibrational energy of colors, and of course gemstones. All colors and sounds are vibrations and using the sounds and colors of the chakras assist them in becoming aligned and balanced. The colors of the chakras are that of the rainbow; starting at the root chakra black/red, orange, yellow, green/pink, light blue, indigo, and violet/white for the seventh chakra; as shown in the picture above. Each chakra needs to be able to function at the correct frequency independently. Each needs to be balanced, clear, energized, and properly spinning. Each time all the chakras reach a level of unison the entire physical vibration of the human body is raised. Think of a scale of one to ten, with ten being the highest and best. Next, think of each chakra needing to be at the same number on that scale. Once each individual chakra is at the same number your entire physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual body raises into its own new vibrational level to match that of the chakras. The more chakra energy work you do the higher your whole body will be raised on this scale with ten being enlightenment while still in this physical human form. Unbalanced and Blocked Chakras = Illness When your chakras are not vibrating or spinning properly you are unable to move your physical, emotional, and mental body onto a higher spiritual level. When we are born we can have a perfect balance or have an imbalance from the past lives we bring with our spirit. Although the human body is just a vessel and a machine it is seldom broke from manufacturer reasons and natural biological causes. Each chakra effects different parts of the body and almost all illness is caused by poor chakra health. Chakra Healing Illness is usually for us, or those around us, to learn higher lessons. You are given intuition and hints all the time about what you should be doing and how you should be living but we often ignore the words from Spirit and our higher selves. We are too often stuck in the reality and physicality of life to listen to our inner selves. Eventually, the chakras become out of balance and since you are stuck in the reality - the chakra manifests the energy imbalance into the physical; the health of your physical body. When you have chakra blocks you slow down the Chi, the life force, and the spiritual connection. You may feel depressed, out of touch, like you lost something, tired, unable to clearly think, or listless. You may get angry for no reason, be afraid, be unsure of yourself, lack self-confidence, be unhappy without a direct understood reason, and have a general negative outlook on life. All of these are indications that you have a problem to resolve that is chakra based. Balanced Chakras = Happiness & Health Universal Love, Energy, and Knowledge (ULEK? flows through the chakras. It is important that you try to maintain the correct energy flow through each chakra since you could also negatively be effected by a chakra being too open. Remember that balance in each, and balance in all in comparison to one another is what you seek. When the chakras are aligned on the kunilini and balanced the energy flows freely from the primal base to the spiritual chakra allowing us a grounded connection to a higher spiritual communication. Think of each chakra as a water valve and your goal is to have each on the same amount so the ULEK flows through the kunilini, uninhibited and constant. Cure Yourself through Chakras Chakra Healing Most major illnesses and ailments are chakra based. Think about how when you feel uncomfortable and almost scared how your stomach gets in an uproar. This is your emotions, your chakra emotions, manifesting into your physical form. When you are no longer scared your stomach eases and returns to normal. Your whole body can be effected depending on the emotions and concerns you carry with you. Childhood and past life issues that you may not be consciously aware of could be the cause of your illness now. I am not saying that every single thing wrong physically is a chakra issue because we are human physical beings that is effected by nature and flukes happen. But on a spiritual level we choose the body we are in this time, or Spirit choose this body for us, for a reason and for lessons to be learned. Chakra work is not easy or painless. We often think we have resolved an issue mentally when there may still be emotional garbage attached to the chakra. We also have a tendency to bury things and those emotions are transferred to a cellular level in our bodies, so clearing those issues may take a lot of work to resurface and resolve. Any of us who have done major chakra work will tell you that "Gee, I got it all fixed." We then raise to a new physical vibrational level and cope with those feelings of being in two places at once before we settle into our new physical vibrational level. Then just as we think we have it all together we will find more chakra issues to deal with. Often we can not see all the issues because something will be in the way. Once you remove that thing you can see what is behind it, more issues! You will know when an issue is totally cleared when you experience the release on all for levels; physical (you will feel it physically), emotionally (usually crying or screaming), mentally (understanding it like never before), and spiritually (feeling it transmuted into pure unconditional love). But fair warning... even after you think it is gone it can come back or you may not have resolved all the associated emotions, reasons, or spiritual concerns connected with the issue. So perhaps you can never really know if it is totally cleared but you will understand when that part of it is embraced and released. As you progress to higher levels you will probably need assistance to bring the issues to the surface. We all need help and that is why people have talents for assisting others. Psychologists and psychiatrists help us with our mental and emotional problems which in turn assist the chakras. Our preachers, priests, rabbis and spiritual leaders assist us on the spiritual level. Our doctors help our physical being. So each in turn assist a minor part of the chakra healing and advancement work. But when you can incorporate all those things and healings into the focus of the problems - to each chakra, then you are making true advancements for your whole being. | | |

CHAKRAS The Chakras have a minimal energy flow which is greater or lesser according to the individual state of development and the object of OM-Kara Kriya is to progressively balance the energy output of these centers. Each Chakra manifests to the psychic sight at the front or anterior surface of the body although rooted in the psychic counterpart of the spine. The arrangement is similar to the Lotus, consisting of root, stem and bud. The Chakra root is in the spine and the bud, or potential blossom is related to one or more major nerve ganglia of the autonomic nervous system (for a full discussion of the Autonomic Nervous System and the Chakras see Chapter 8, Page 97: A Chakra & Kundalini Workbook Every Chakra represents a potential within which may be controlled through special meditation practices. This potential may manifest at a psychic, physical and spiritual level and the degree to which a Chakra is opened is influenced by the time of birth and the daily movement of planets. This secret doctrine was clearly laid out in oral teachings of Yantra Yoga passed on by Yogamaharishi Dr Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj in the 1950s. Yantra has several meanings and the one we usually associate it with is a geometrical diagram representing a psychic circuit board. In a general sense Yantra is any instrument, particularly as used in Jyotish (Indian Astrology-Numerology), and it is in this sense that Yogamaharishi Dr Swami Gitananda Giri Guru Maharaj taught a method of calculation relating to each persons propensity to operate through one or more of these centers. (See Article Yantra Yoga on Yoga Magik Website). As an example Muladhara is considered the first center in classical texts and this is the center controlling the Kundalini or fire power in life. Man manifests this fire power through sexual expression for procreation (mental and physical) thus being biologically driven to perpetuate his own ego and mind. Muladhara Chakra: Gateway to Evolution Although we associate this center with the beginning of individuality and the foundation of being, this center can also manifest through unexpected channels. Muladhara controls all tensions of the head and feet (tension here meaning a polar stretch which may produce disharmony manifesting as dis-ease). When this root center becomes disturbed at a psychic level the physical result is ear, eye, nose and throat difficulties. This can include such surprisingly diverse conditions as loss of hair, migraine headaches, sinus inflammation, adenoids, infection of the tonsils, toothaches, earache and all diseases which localize in the head and throat. Although this may seem strange that a center at the base of the spine, normally associated with sexuality and drive, can effect the head anyone with a knowledge of physiology can acquire a clue why this is so by considering Honeymoon Sinusitis and a host of medical syndromes relating the nose and head to the genitals. At the opposite spectrum foot problems include fallen arches, sore feet, weak ankles, corns, and related foot disabilities. When this center is opened under a negative influence the individual is prone to accidents involving the head and feet. It is interesting to note that when Muladhara is inharmonious we are always twisting our ankles, bumping our heads or stumbling and tripping as well as slamming car doors on our fingers and jamming hands in drawers. This latter tendency to hurt the upper extremities has to do with the Muladhara being deeply interconnected with the second Chakra, Swadhishthana. The square (symbol of earth) and the Hasti or elephant (Airavata) give the Tattwa (Element) and Vahana (Vehicle) of Muladhara. These symbols represent solidarity and the basic beginning of all evolution as distinct from involution. Thus as students works vibrationally on this center they develop individuality, pioneering, and leadership qualities appropriate to their Dharma in this incarnation. Out of this root center emerges the inventions that open up new horizons for humanity and the flowering of this center may be seen at the mundane level of many inventors with strong, pioneering personalities: Henry Ford, Edison and Tesla are examples of men with indomitable wills who made contributions that changed evolution. The Crown Chakra
Location: Top of the head
Color: Violet
Parts of the body: This Chakra is associated with the top of the head, the brain, and the entire nervous system
Endocrine Gland: Pineal Gland
Sense: Sense of empathy, unity, experiencing another person's experience as if you were inside them, being them.
Consciousness: The Crown Chakra represents that part of our consciousness concerned with perceptions of unity or separation. Just as the Root Chakra showed our connection with Mother Earth, this chakra shows our relationship with Our Father in Heaven. It represents our connection with our biological father, which becomes the model for our relationship with authority, and ultimately, with God. It's the level of the soul.
When one experiences a sense of separation from their father, they close the crown chakra, and experience a sense of isolation and aloneness, as if they are in a shell, and having difficulty with feeling contact with those around them. Thought processes tend to justify and maintain the sense of aloneness. The view from this chakra includes seeing one's Self as the single consciousness creating all, and paradoxically, thus connected to all, like a dreamer dreaming a dream and realizing that all that is perceived is just an extension of their own consciousness.
Element: Inner Light, which is what one experiences when they are in the deepest part of their being, as a point of consciousness glowing with intelligence.
Also called White Light. Metaphysically, this is considered the most subtle element of which the entire physical universe is created.
The Brow Chakra
Location: Center of the forehead
Color: Indigo, Midnight Blue
Parts of the body: This Chakra is associated with the forehead and temples, with the carotid plexus
Endocrine Gland: Pituitary Gland
Sense: Extra Sensory Perception, all of the inner senses corresponding to the outer senses, which together are considered spirit-to-spirit communication. These include, for example, clairvoyance (inner sense of vision), clairaudience (inner sense of hearing), clairsentience (inner sense of touch), etc.
Consciousness: This Chakra is associated with the deep inner level of Being we call the Spirit, and with what we consider spirituality and the spiritual perspective, the point of view from that deeper part of our being that western traditions consider the subconscious or unconscious. It is the place where our true motivations are found, and is the level of consciousness that directs our actions and, in fact, our lives. It is also from this point of view that one sees events in the physical world as the manifestation of co-creation among the Beings involved in those events.
Element: Inner Sound, the sound one hears inside that does not depend upon events outside. Often considered a pathological condition by traditional medicine, it is also seen by eastern traditions as a necessary prerequisite to further spiritual growth.
The Throat Chakra
Location: Base of the throat
Color: Sky blue
Parts of the body: This chakra controls the throat and the neck, and the arms and the hands. It is associated with the brachial or cervical plexus.
Sense: Sense of Hearing
Endocrine Gland: Thyroid Gland
Consciousness: The aspects of expressing and receiving. Expressing can be in the form of communicating what one wants and what one feels, or it can be an artistic expression, as an artist painting, a dancer dancing, a musician playing music, using a form for expressing and bringing to the outside what was within. Expressing is related to receiving, as in "Ask, and ye shall receive."
This chakra is associated with listening to one's intuition, which guides one in an optimal flow, in which one sees one's goals manifest, and it seems that the Universe provides all their needs with no effort on their part at all. It's a state of Grace. Abundance, therefore, is associated with this chakra, as is the aspect of unconditional receiving necessary to accept the abundance of the Universe. This is the first level of consciousness in which one perceives directly another level of Intelligence, and experiences one's interaction with this other Intelligence. Metaphysically, this chakra is related to creativity, creating, manifesting in the physical world the fulfillment of one's goals.
Element: Ether, as the crossover between the physical world and the world of Spirit. On the physical level, it corresponds to deep space as the most subtle physical element. From the point of view of the Spiritual, it represents the matrix on which physical reality manifests.
Metaphorically, it represents a person's relationship with their space, the movie that is playing around them.
The Heart Chakra
Location: Center of the chest
Color: Emerald Green
Parts of the body: This Chakra is associated with the heart and the blood circulatory system, and the cardiac plexus, as well as the lungs and the entire chest area.
Endocrine Gland: Thymus Gland, controlling the immune system.
Sense: Sense of touch, in its aspect of relating to the person inside the body, and distinct from the sensation of the Orange Chakra, which is more about the sensation one feels from their own body. Hugging, therefore, is a Heart Chakra activity. When one hugs, one is aware of what the person inside the other body feels, and they are aware of what you feel inside your body, and there is a sense of relating to the person inside the body. Sensitivity about being touched indicates heart chakra sensitivity.
Consciousness: Perceptions of love, relationships (relating) with people close to your heart, e.g. partner, siblings, parents, children. Difficulty with breathing, or with the lungs, the organs of air, indicates tension in the Heart Chakra. A person's relationship with air reflects their relationship with love.
AIDS is a problem with the person's perceptions of love, since it is the immune system which is affected. The person feels that their lifestyle separates them from those they love, often because of societal judgment.
Element: Air
The Solarplexus Chakra
Location: Solar plexus
Color: Yellow
Parts of the Body: The parts of the body associated with this chakra include the muscular system, the skin as a system, the solar plexus, the large intestine, stomach, liver, and other organs and glands in the region of the solar plexus. Also the eyes, as the organs of sight, and the face, representing figuratively the face one shows the world.
Endocrine Gland: The pancreas
Sense: Eyesight
Consciousness: Parts of the consciousness associated with this chakra include perceptions concerned with power, control, freedom, the ease with which one is able to be themselves - ease of being. Mental activity and the mental body is also associated with this chakra. The solar plexus chakra is also associated with the level of being we call the personality, or ego.
The relationship a person has with fire, or the sun, can be seen to have its parallels in the person’s relationship with the parts of their consciousness that this chakra represents. Someone sensitive about the sun, then, can be seen to have particular sensitivities about power, or control, or freedom.
Element: Fire, the sun.
The Sacral Chakra
Location: The center of the abdomen
Color: Orange
Parts of the body: Reproductive system, sexual organs, lumbar plexus
Endocrine gland: Gonads
Sense: Sense of taste, appetite
Consciousness: This chakra is associated with the parts of the consciousness concerned with food and sex. It is about the body's communication to the Being inside, about what the body wants and needs, and what it finds pleasurable. The person's ability to have children is also associated with this chakra. If there is not a clear relationship with the element of water, associated with this chakra, the person's relationship with water is a reflection of their relationship with the parts of their consciousness associated with this chakra, i.e. food, sex, or having children.
This chakra is also associated with the emotional body, and the person's willingness to feel their emotions.
Element: Water
The Base Chakra
Location: base of the spin
Color : Red
Parts of the body: Lymph system, skeleton system (teeth and bones), the prostate gland in men, the sacral plexus, the bladder and elimination system, and the lower extremities (legs - feet, ankles , etc.). Also the nose, since it is the organ of the sense of smell, and associated with survival.
Endocrine gland: Adrenal glands
Sense: Smell
Consciousness: Security, survival, trust, the relationship with money, home, job. Ability to be grounded, to be present in the here and now. Ability to allow one's self to be nourished, in the sense of allowing one's Inner Being to be satisfied. This chakra also reflects a person's connection with their mother, and with Mother Earth. How the person feels about being on the earth. Connection with the physical body.
Symptoms or tensions in the parts of the body controlled by this chakra indicate tensions in the parts of the person's consciousness related to this chakra. Tension here is experienced as insecurity as a general perceptual filter. More tension is experienced as fear. More than that is experienced as terror, or a threat to survival.
Element: Earth
The 7 Chakras
The chakras are the bodies centres of energy and vital to the well being of the whole person. They are the energy centres through which our spiritual and emotional energies flow. The word Chakra is taken from Hindi and means wheel of energy There are seven chakras or energy centres within the body. Each chakra has certain characteristics and influences a different aspect of the personality. The correct flow of energies through the chakras is vital for health. When the flow of prana, or energy is blocked, dis-ease results.

MULADHARA ROOT CHAKRA Element = Earth Color= Red Survival, Grounding, The Body The first Chakra is found at the base of the spine, the point you are sitting on right now. Its name, Muladhara, means "root", and the paths of energy in this chakra extend downward like a root through the legs and feet to contact the solid Earth below. Its color is deep red, and its symbol is a lotus of four petals within which is a downward-pointing triangle, symbolizing the root energy. The Muldahara chakra is the foundation for the whole chakra system. Its function is to respond to any issues concerning survival: eating, sleeping, exercising, recovering from illness, making a living, or simply feeling safe and secure. If our survival needs are properly taken care of, then we can safely focus on other levels such as learning, creativity or relationships. if there is some damage to this chakra, then we find ourselves repeatedly coping with threats to our survival, which keeps us from accomplishing other things. Issues like changing jobs, moving, recurring health troubles, weight issues and/or feelings of fear for one's safety. 2nd CHAKRA SVADHISTHANA SEAT OF LIFE Element = Water Color = Orange Attributes = Polarity, movement, sexuality, pleasure and emotion
The second Chakra is in the lower abdomen, centered between the navel and the genitals. It corresponds to the sacral vertebrae and the nerve ganglion called the sacral plexus. This plexus hooks into the sciatic nerve and is a center of motion for the body. It is often called "the seat of life". Its element is water. Therefore, this chakra corresponds with bodily functions having to do with liquid: circulation, urinary elimination, sexuality and reproduction. Classically, this Chakra is the center of sexuality, emotions, sensation, pleasure, movement and nurturance. Like water, it is ruled by the Moon, which also influences the tides and our emotions. The Sanskrit name for the second Chakra is Svadhisthana, which means "sweetness". This is an apt name for the sweetness of desire, pleasure and sexuality associated with its life giving waters. Its color is orange, and its lotus contains a crescent moon surrounded by six petals. If the Chakra is too open, there is a tendency to feel everyone elses emotions or to be ruled by your own with frequent emotional episodes. If this Chakra is closed down, then we are dull, flat, lifeless and dry. We are out of touch with our emotions, have very little desire or passion and little or no interest in sexuality. the main aspect of the second Chakra, however, is Sexuality, the life force. It is the water that softens the hard Earth and readies it for change. Power and will are the attributes of the next Chakra, pleasure and desire are its seed. 3rd CHAKRA MANIPURA POWER CHAKRA Element = Fire Color = Yellow Attributes = Power, will energy and transformation
This is our third Chakra, a yellow lotus with ten petals, located at our solar plexus---the place we feel "butterflies". Its element is Fire that radiates and transforms matter into energy, giving light and warmth. This Chakra represents our "get up and go", our action, will and vitality and sense of personal power. Its name, Manipura, means "lustrous gem". Think of it as a glowing yellow sun at the center of your body. On the physical plane, the third Chakra rules metabolism, the process whereby we turn food (matter) into energy and action. Digestion and stomach problems, hypoglycemia, diabetes, ulcers and addiction to stimulants are all related to the malfunction of the third Chakra. In the second Chakra we encountered desire. Having now made yet another step toward consciousness, we can now temper our desires and instincts with knowledge, making decisions that are put into action, again combining the poles of mind and body. Power, then, is seen as an act of combination, of joining together parts to make a greater whole. When we embrace and combine all the parts within us, our bodies, visions and knowledge, then we emerge whole and powerful. 4th CHAKRA ANAHATA HEART CHAKRA Element = Air Color = Green Attributes = Love, balance, relationship, compassion
The fourth Chakra, located over the heart, is the balance point. The 12-petaled lotus symbol of the heart Chakra contains within it two intersecting triangles forming a six pointed star. These triangles represent the force of matter moving upward toward liberation and the force of spirit moving into manifestation. It is at this Chakra that they are evenly combined, creating a center of peace and balance.. The Sanskrit name for this Chakra is Anahata, which means "sound that is made without any two things striking." This describes the state where we are no longer fighting or confronting what we love but moving with it in graceful harmony. Anahata, the heart Chakra, is related to the element Air and the quality of love. Air is formless and expansive, and so too is love. Love is the expansion of the heart, the transcendence of boundaries, the interconnectedness of spirit. It is also balance, softness and forgiveness. And Love at the heart Chakra is felt as a state of being, existing independently of any object or person, unlike the passion of the second Chakra. The operating force in this Chakra is the force of equilibrium. That which stays in balance has longevity and lives in harmony. Enter the peaceful balance of the heart within yourself and others, and you will experience the mysteries of Anahata. 5th CHAKRA VISUDDHA THROAT CHAKRA Element = Sound Color = Bright Blue Attributes = Sound, vibration, communication and creativity The fifth Chakra is located in the region of the neck and shoulders and is the center of communication and creativity. Its color is bright turquoise, mixing the deep indigo of the sixth Chakra with the green of the heart. Its lotus has 16 petals and is called Visuddha, meaning "purification". To successfully reach and open the fifth Chakra, the body must attain a certain level of purification, which helps to achieve the sensitivity needed for the subtler levels of this upper Chakra. Our breathing, heart rate, brain waves and sleeping and eating patterns are all rhythmic activities that ground us. When we are feeling harmonious with our surroundings, then our internal rhythms are resonating within ourselves. Communication is a rhythmic activity; the more resonant our internal rhythms, the more easily we will communicate. And communication involves both listening and speaking. The fifth Chakra is also a center of creativity, another form of symbolic communication. As we open up this center, we open up our creative potential. The greater the resonance within us, the greater the power within our creations. 6th CHAKRA AJNA The VISION CENTER Element = Light Color = Indigo Attributes = Clairvoyance, memory, dreams, vision and color The sixth Chakra, located at the level of the forehead, is also known as the third eye. A lotus with only two petals, it is visualized as a deep indigo blue. This is the center of visual, psychic and intuitive perception----the place where we store our memories, perceive our dreams and imagine our future. Its name Ajna, means both "to perceive" and "to command". The element is light, a higher, faster vibration than that of sound. The Ajna Chakra relates to the pineal gland, a vestigial light sensitive organ located in the exact geometric center of the head. It is believed by some to play a part in producing the internal visions that sometimes come with meditative states. The sixth Chakra is our intuitive level, bringing us information through internally experienced visual imagery. Dreams are the clearest example of this. If this Chakra is closed down, we may experience eye trouble, headaches or trouble dreaming. Too open without solid background to back it up, one may experience hallucinations or confusion from too much input.. Opening psychic perception is largely a function of learning to recognize patterns and creating an internal visual language with which to interpret them. SAHASRARA The CROWN Element = Thought Color = Violet Attributes = Information, understanding, awareness, consiousness, pattern and meditation At last we come to the end of our journey, climbing to the nectar blossom or our flower-----the thousand-petaled lotus sitting at the crown of the head. This is the Chakra of thought, consciousness and information, our most abstract and versatile level of all the Chakras.. The Sahasrara, which means "thousand-fold", has its thousand petals of spirit reaching into the infinite cosmos.. It is through the crown Chakra that we store and retrieve information and run it through our lower Chakras to bring things into manifestation. The crown Chakra is most significantly characterized by a quality of "within-ness", contrasting the external manifestation in time and space of the lower Chakras. It is truly from a place within that we acquire and process our knowledge. The seventh Chakra is our gateway to "cosmic consciousness" or "higher consciousness". The crown Chakra is the place where we study consciousness itself, even though each Chakra reflects its own state of consciousness. The very act of thinking is the process of following lines of order. Our matrix structures become our personal belief systems and the ordering principles of our lives. |
