What was REALLY causing Anne's depression? Here's one of those "must read" articles if you are feeling stopped with a stubborn issue. Rather than conclude that "EFT doesn't work" or that "I've tried everything," it is much more useful (and accurate) to say, "I haven't found the real underlying issue yet." Read how Anne Presuel-Moreno was faced with this dilemma and how she creatively uncovered the true cause of her depression. Pay particular attention to her "conversation with her brother." Very creative. ___________________________________________________________ by Anne Presuel-Moreno Recently, I felt very depressed and scared about something that would (normally) seem to be a very positive thing: a possible move as a result of a very good job offer (my husband’s, not mine). I spoke with a friend who suggested that I didn’t like change. I agreed with that at the time, but upon reflection, I realized it isn’t about change itself, but rather, I’m happy here, where I’m at. That evening I continued to mope around, and the next morning, I awoke with a feeling of dread and depression. Finally, I told myself that I needed to tap on it. (I had to get to work and needed to be available for my client ?a very good motivation for identifying and clearing out the feelings.) I started by rubbing my sore spot and saying "Even though I’m feeling depressed, I deeply and completely love and accept myself." I tapped one time through. It didn’t shift. So, I started again. Same thing. Nothing happened. I knew that "feeling depressed" was likely made up of a number of aspects, beliefs or fears, and that I would need to address them one-by-one. But how to figure out what they were? I decided to imagine myself having a conversation with my brother regarding why I was depressed about the possibility of having to move. (Notice my language there: I felt like I "have to" move, rather than "choosing to" move. Always watch how you frame things as you think or speak.) Here’s how the conversation went in my mind. Also, I tapped while I did this. "Gosh, Steve, I just really hate the idea of moving. I mean, I’ve worked so hard to get my life to be what I want it to be here. I’m happy! I feel safe! Last time I moved, my life turned to crap!" I began to cry here, so I knew I was connecting with one of the aspects of feeling depressed. I had two issues here: feeling safe and what happened last time I moved. I continued. "What if that happens again?" The feelings intensified to a 10, and I began to sob, while I tapped, until it reduced in intensity to a 4 or so. I continued in my mind. "I just feel so safe here, and if I leave, I don’t know that I can count on the world to be a safe place." Here was another issue: not knowing if I could count on the world to be a safe place. I had more intensity again ?up to about a 9 this time. I continued to tap and stayed with that thought for a minute or two. Then ?release. Big sigh. I affirmed Patricia Carrington’s choices method as I stated "Even though I’m afraid the world isn’t a safe place, I choose to see areas where it is." (Starting small here.) I began to feel even better, although there was still some intensity ?about a 3. I did another round of tapping. "Even though I’m afraid of the big, bad world, I choose to see it as a safe place. The world is a safe and friendly place." Big release. I felt better for most of the day. That evening, I began to feel depressed again. I knew I needed to get to the bottom of this. So I began again. "Even though I’m feeling depressed, I deeply and completely love and accept myself." Again, nothing shifted. My language wasn’t cutting it. I was depressing myself (a term used by Dr. William Glasser in his Choice Theory methods), and I didn’t know why. This time, I actually called a friend who is an EFT practitioner. I asked her to listen to me and help me identify the feelings. I talked about leaving my beloved Charlottesville, Virginia, about having to start all over in creating a new practice, but none of these triggered anything. I just felt a little sad (and tapped on that), but nothing significant stood out. Then I said "My husband will be teaching at the new university and I’m afraid some hot little thing will make a play for him. I’m afraid I’ll lose him." Bingo! Interestingly, he’s never, ever given me any reason to think something like this. This was old stuff from a former relationship, and I knew it. I began to cry, and I tapped on this fear. It spiked at a 10 when I said it, but quickly went to a 0. I felt much better again. I knew I could then be more at choice about this decision than I could before all the tapping. Here’s a good question: do I want to move? Hmmm ?not sure yet, but I don’t feel frantic about the possibility, and that’s a huge difference. If you don’t have someone available at the moment to process a feeling with, it is a good idea to create someone in your mind: someone you trust and who will listen to you as you identify the emotionally-charged issues. This gives you an opportunity to shift the emotions quickly and easily. Anne Presuel-Moreno |

More uses of EFT & a philosophical bent Hi Everyone, Avis Burnett shares these EFT experiences/philosophies with us. Hugs, Gary ________________________________________________________ by Avis A. Burnett Dear Gary, Thought I would relay a few thoughts/experiences of late to the list: 1) I was working with a woman today in my usual mode ~ I was guiding her in meditation (her eyes were closed and she was relaxed in a recliner). Suddenly, I found myself tapping the EFT points on her energy field. Not touching her, but tapping her field. I explained what I was doing and asked if she could feel anything & if it helped. Her response was "yes" to both. Though not conscious of the process or what it was intended to accomplish, our guidance was that it helped her become even more relaxed & receptive... and the healing seemed to be more "efficient" or effective. Thought this might be of interest to others who do "energy work" (such as Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, etc.) or, in some cases, hypnotherapy. 2) This weekend, I was watching a video of a workshop given by Drunvalo Melchizedek called the Flower of Life. In it, he said that becoming more sophisticated technologically is not a good thing ~ that is, it makes us more dependent on that-which-is-outside-us rather than that-which-is-within. For example, the more we rely on heaters to warm us, the more we "forget" that we have the ability to generate warmth from within. I was reminded of a series of books called Life and Teachings of the Masters of the Far East in which Baird Spalding witnessed Ascended Masters filling a room with light and heat simply by their willing it. If we are all truly on a Journey to learn and know our own power, our own abilities, then it occurred to me that your taking EFT in the direction of the intuitive (rather than relying on an outside source such as VT) is consistent with that philosophy. I like it! Ever the philosophical... With appreciation to all for making this list so interesting and so helpful! Avis A. Burnett |

Using EFT to relieve a cold sore (Herpes HSV-1) Hi Everyone, Millions of people get those pesky cold sores that show up on the lips and take up to 2 weeks to heal. In most cases these outbreaks are due to oral Herpes, or HSV-1 and, up until now, there is very little that can be done about them. Margaret Boyer, however, discovered that persistent EFT dramatically improved the healing time to 3 days. Hugs, Gary By Margaret Boyer Dearest Gary, I wanted to share with you and others the excellent result I achieved using EFT with a cold sore that I had manifested. I am not someone who suffers regularly from cold sores. I can go a decade with no incidence, or as this year has proven, I can get 2 in one year. This time was a bit different though. When I am under a lot of stress a cold sore will remind me that I need to reprioritize. I had been studying for some professional certificates and, even though I'd already reviewed the material and felt good about it, clearly my body did not agree. I woke up on a Wednesday morning and found a slight swelling on the too familiar place of my upper lip. I noticed that while it was uncomfortable, it was not painful. I decided to test myself; I estimated that my discomfort was at a 6. I tapped: Even though I have this cold sore beginning to form?/EM> Clearly I saw no physical result, however, the tingling and itching sensation that often accompanies these little devils was greatly diminished, down to a 2 on a scale of 0 to 10. I kept tapping for "this remaining cold sore" and the discomfort went to a zero out of 10 and still of course, no physical change. Now normally after about 6 hours of time, my lip would swell as if I'd been stung by a bee, my lip could have it's own zip code and then to add insult to injury the little blister or two would make their presence known in an unattractive way. However, I tapped about 30 times throughout the day and by the end of the day, my lip swelling had gone down significantly and the blisters never got any bigger than the head of a pin. I was ecstatic! I woke up the next morning, the swelling was completely gone, and the blisters had already begun to dry out and recede even though they never swelled up and became unsightly. The following 2 days I tapped at least 10 times per day Even though I still have this remaining cold sore?/EM> and at the end 3 days, my cold sore resembles nothing more than a tiny little cut on my lip. Cold sores can take at least 10 days to get to the point I got to in 3. I couldn't be happier! I do have a topical cream for such occasions, but purposely did not use it because I wanted this to be as authentic as possible. I am thrilled and amazed. Although I don't intend on getting another cold sore, if I do, I am confident that it will be greatly reduced to start and will heal even faster! Thank you so much for this wonderful process! Blessings, Margaret Boyer |

A Carpal Tunnel "one minute wonder" Note: This article assumes you have a working knowledge of EFT. Hi Everyone, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is usually treated with everything from wrist braces to surgery. With EFT, however, it often vanishes in short order using nothing but a few taps. Carole Gledhill from England validates this by sharing this case wherein her client went from extreme pain down to nothing with one round of tapping. Note that she handles an important emotional issue first. Hugs, Gary By Carole Gledhill Hello Gary, I have been tapping my friends and myself for about a year now with lots of surprises and wonderful exciting experiences. Recently a friend came to me describing herself as being a mess. She was at a critical point in a relationship crisis and was having a make or break meeting with her partner that evening. She was meeting him in a public place and wanted my help because she didn't want to collapse in a puddle of tears. We started tapping but she wasn’t shifting. Then it occurred to me to ask how she felt when she said, “I accept myself.?She said, "Well, it feels as though I'm lying.?I asked her to think of something positive about herself that she would be comfortable saying and she came up with, "I'm a nice person." We tapped through lots of aspects and lots of tears and tissues and after a while it came to me that we could have a go at "I accept myself" in the setup. What an incredible and unexpected result. She said, "oh, that feels better ?it feels like a weight has come off me." After about a minute she was crying with joy. It brings a tear to my eye remembering it. She had mentioned along the way that she had carpal tunnel syndrome in her right hand and the previous night it was so painful that she had wanted to chop her whole arm off. We had a bit of time left so I suggested we have a go at it. She rated it at a 12 out of 10. We did one round of tapping and halfway through she noticed that her hand felt lovely and warm. As we got to the end I told her it probably wouldn’t go in one session but that I would give her a tapping map so she could tap every day. I then asked her what the carpal tunnel pain had come down to. It was gone ?completely gone. I know EFT works but still sometimes I can't believe it. We were both sitting there with jaws hanging, and then jumping up and down like kids, it was so exciting. I have a feeling that because her energy was still rushing around it helped to make releasing the pain in her hand so effortless. I have occasionally had sessions with myself when issues start to drop away with just the setup. Her evening went well and I haven't heard from her since. I love EFT and thank you so much for putting it into the world. Yours gratefully, Carole A brief post script to a previous case (a friend with one minute wonder Carpal Tunnel Syndrome relief). I just emailed her and asked how her hand was. She replied, "Sorry, don't know what you are on about. I have not got a bad hand." This was a problem she’d had on and off for years and for which surgery had been suggested. We fixed it 2 weeks previously and the result was so profound that she has forgotten she ever had it. |

Hi Everyone, Roseanna Ellis recently spent some time applying EFT in a nursing home rehab center. Her prolific results are given in this article. This would be a good one to show to other rehab centers as a way to show how much could be done to dramatically accelerate healing. Hugs, Gary By Roseanna Ellis Dear Gary, With business being slow due to the fact that I live off the beach, I decided to work for a month or so doing physical therapy in a rehab center within a nursing home. These are people that were in hospital who can't go home yet because they are unable to care for themselves and thus must spend a few weeks getting better. Normally I hate working in a nursing home because it is not challenging enough for me. But to my surprise I have had an amazing time in the past two weeks. I have been going around tapping everyone, from nurses to aids to bosses to patients. First my boss complained of severe Right knee pain and tightness. Her 0-10 intensity level was an 8 for pain and in Range of motion she was only 70/90. I only worked on her for about 10 minutes for pain and for tightness. She got off the mat and wide-eyed said, " I can't believe it but my pain is completely gone. I checked her hamstring range and it had increased to 90/90 a perfect hamstring. Next one of my patients who was in her 80's was feeling sick to her stomach and had been that way for a few days. The nurse had called the doctor and he agreed to send her to the hospital for tests. I was to walk her in therapy first. I asked her if I could tap her to get rid of her stomach pain. She agreed and within 10 minutes she was up and moving fine without much pain. I saw her in the hallway later that day and asked how the tests went? She answered, " I changed my mind and decided I was feeling much better and the nurse canceled my hospital visit. This kind of stuff happened all day every day with all my patients. I won't bore you but two I must tell. One gentleman, in his 50s, not my patient, but I interfered in his therapy (like I know everything right?) Well he had had a brain operation and was left paralyzed on his left leg. To make matters worse his right shoulder was classified as a frozen shoulder which was hindering his progress because he needed his arms to pull himself up in the parallel bars. His range was about 90 degrees and normal range was 180. He also had severe pain upon movement of that arm. Well I worked with him for five minutes while his therapist was seeing to another patient. Within that time I got about 30 degrees extra movement and the pain had diminished about 20%. The next day I asked his therapist if I could work a little more on him. I allowed her to test his range. She tested it at 130/180 which was where EFT had got him the day before. I worked EFT for 10 min. and I called his therapist over again to re-measure him. Now normally range like this takes weeks and weeks to achieve, that is why I wanted her to re-test. She looked a little annoyed thinking that she had just tested him and why was I asking her again. To her shock it was 175/180, and the man had no pain through the motion. I downloaded your EFT manual and gave it to him today to read and told him to apply it to himself every hour on the hour for a few days. Another EFT miracle happened yesterday. One of my patients who is 72 years old, has had a very difficult time walking. Her balance is very poor. I had been working with her for a few days just doing regular therapy, when yesterday she said " I am so afraid of falling, what happens if I fall and I can't get up?. Well I began to tap her for her fear of falling, I worked for about ten minutes until I felt secure enough to walk her again to test her fear. Well she walked with so much control that it shocked me (which usually doesn't happen too much any more). Then she shocked me further when she stated" I have not walked this good since I was in my 30s. You should have seen her smile. Today I worked on her some more. Then I had her walking backwards, without loss of balance. She pushed herself around the nursing home shouting how great she was able to walk. She told me that her husband didn't believe it and that he wants to come to see her in therapy. She is forbidden to walk unless she is in therapy because of her history of falls. If only out-patient facilities were willing to let me work on patients like this. But I know it would never happen. To get a frozen shoulder or a replaced knee better within a few visits would put them out of business in a very short time. For now I grab what I can get away with. Using EFT for Weight Loss Introduction EFT, Emotional Freedom Technique, is the most popular energy psychology technique. It is sometimes called “emotional acupuncture? Instead of needles, you use two or three fingertips to tap on important acupuncture points. It is easy to learn and works better than what I learned in counseling school. While tapping on the points, you say aloud a statement about the problem you are working on. In this article, you will learn how to use EFT for Weight Loss. To get started, look at the chart below and find each point on your body.
Getting Started ?The Setup The first step is to identify the issue you want to work on. EFT works on both physical and emotional issues. Be as specific as you can. For example, it is more effective to work on “the tightness in my neck from being under pressure at work?than “feeling stressed out? Start by tapping on the karate chop point. Use two or three fingers of one hand to tap on the other with the same pressure you would use if you were tapping on a table to make a drumming sound. While tapping continuously on the point, say out loud: “Even though I eat when I’m feeling something I don’t want to feel (modify this to fit your situation), I love and accept myself completely.?/B> Do this a total of three times. The First Round Next, we move to the top of the head and then we'll work down the body, making the points easy to remember. - Start with the top of the head. Tap about seven times. Say a simple phrase out loud about the problem. For instance, “I eat when I’m nervous."
- The eyebrow points are located at the beginning of the eyebrow, nearest the center of the face. Tap about seven times and say a simple phrase about the problem. For instance, “I eat when I’m upset.?
- The side of the eye points are located on the bone at the side of the eye. Tap about seven times and say a simple phrase about the problem. For instance, “I don’t like my body.?
- The under the eye points are on the bone located under the eye about even with the pupils. Tap about seven times and say a simple phrase about the problem. For instance, “I don’t like being overweight.?
- Now tap under the nose, halfway between the bottom of the nose and the top of the lip. Tap about seven times and say a simple phrase about the problem. For instance, “I wish I knew how to lose this weight.?
- The chin point is halfway between the bottom of the lower lip and the chin. Tap about seven times and say a simple phrase about the problem. For instance, “I am tired of dieting.?
- The collarbone spots are located about one inch down and over towards the outside of where a man would tie his tie. I like to use the flat of one hand to tap the whole area. Tap about seven times and say a simple phrase about the problem. For instance, “I don’t know if I can lose weight.?
- The under the arm point is located about 4 inches below the armpit. If you are right handed, most people lift the left arm and the fingers of right hand to tap. Tap about seven times and say a simple phrase about the problem. For instance, “I hope this EFT stuff can help me lose weight.?/LI>
Do this every day for at least a week (a month is more realistic) before you decide whether EFT is a tool that can help you. EFT for Weight Loss Some setup phrases that people have used for losing weight include: - “Even though I’m a food addict, …?
- “Even though I'm obsessed with food..."
- "Even though I'm a sugar addict..."
- "Even though I crave sweets at night..."
- "Even though I have an enormous appetite..."
- "Even though I'm a closet eater..."
- "Even though I binge at night..."
- "Even though I eat when I'm angry..."
- "Even though I eat when I'm lonely..."
- "Even though I overeat to hurt myself...?
- "Even though I eat to avoid my feelings..."
- "Even though I use food to soothe myself..."
- "Even though I overeat to hide myself..."
- "Even though I binge because I think I'm worthless..."
- "Even though I overeat because I don't love myself..."
