Dew, Rain: These forms of condensation are associated with the Moon in many cultures. The early dew after a Full Moon was said to heal and improve beauty if rubbed into the skin. Certain phasess and signs of the Moon are said to be conducive to rain.
Dog: Dogs have long been associated with Moon deities, especially goddesses of the crescent New Moon. Among the Norse was the story of Managarmr (Moon dog), the nightiest of all dog-wolf supernatural beings.
Dragon: Although primarily connected with solar and lunar eclipses, dragons are associated with the Moon. This idea of dragons and eclipses was held in China, Northern Asia, Finland, Lithuania, North Africa, Persia. Legends say that dragons often flew about in the moonlight.
Eye: Often associated with the Moon, especially in ancient Egypt. Many little Eye Goddesses have been found in Mediterranean and European sites. |
