Harvest was a time for families, communities, and friends to come
together. During harvest, special cakes were made in a ritual manner,
and each person in the family or group would partake of this sacred
meal. Mix together one cup oat flour, one pinch baking soda, two
pinches of salt, and one teaspoon of melted butter. Add hot water to
form a dough, roll it on a board, and cut it into shapes. Cook the
bread in the oven at 375 degrees until it is nicely toasted. Share it
with your tribe or family, reciting these words:
"Consecrate the produce of our land.
Bestow prosperity and peace
In the names of the gods and goddesses,
And in the names of the ancient ones."
