Pendulum Divination
Pendulum divination or dowsing can be used for many different things and there are different ways of doing it.
In this exercise, we are going to keep it very simple. There will be a question with a yes/no or a mulitiple choice answer. The idea is to use your pendulum to find the correct answer and post it in a message in this thread. The questions posted will only be those in which the answer is already known by the person posting the question (which, for now will only be me but could change as time goes on).
THIS IS NOT A READING THREAD.
IT IS FOR LEARNING AND PRACTICING WITH THE PENDULUM.
And, of course, to have fun.
Following is some introductory info for those just starting out: (For those who just want to get on with the show, go to the bottom of this message for the question. )
A pendulum can be made from anything. You can buy one or you can make your own. To make your own, you need a lightly weighted object (called a bob) that will be tied on a string/ light cord/light chain approx. 6 - 8 inches (15 - 20 cm) long (or whatever length you're comfortable with).
The bob can be made from anything you fancy. Some examples might be something made of wood, glass, brass, or something like an acorn, crystal, seashell, ring, key ring, etc. For years, I used a metal washer (as in nut, screw, washer - not a clothes washer ... just call me Hercules ) on a piece of sewing thread. Have also used a sewing needle and a brass pendant. Am now using a crystal. The pendulum needs to hang fairly straight and be able to swing freely.
Most say to hold the string of your pendulum loosely between your thumb and forefinger. Have also heard it suggested that it is better to wrap the string around your index or middle finger allowing the pendulum to hang down as the pulse in your thumb can effect the swing of the pendulum. I say experiment and go with what is right for you.
To determine what direction your pendulum swings for yes, no and neutral answers (which is all we'll deal with in this thread) ....ask it a question you already know the answer to....one for a yes answer and one for a no answer. For example: Is my name Starr? , etc. Have also found it works to say what is yes, what is maybe, what is no. It is best to have it stop between answers if asking more than one question. You can tell it to stop....you don't have to wait for it to stop swinging on it's own.
When forming your own questions, as in all forms of divination, make sure the question is phrased clearly so that there can be no misinterpretation. For example...asking 'Will I be a success' isn't likely to get you an accurate answer. Success at what? What do you consider 'being a success'? ..... love, career, being rich, etc. You need to be as specific as possible.
Doing this for yourself may pose (but not necessarily) a little challenge too. If you ask a question and you really want a certain outcome, then you can influence the pendulum to swing the way you want it too. If you practice clearing your mind, concentrate only on the question, and stay objective, you will have more success.
-
Do your grounding and protection.
-
Sit comfortably and relax...make sure there are no drafts strong enough to move the pendulum.
-
Ask your guides to come forward.
-
Hold the string/cord/chain in your hand as discussed above
-
Resting your elbow on a table helps to keep your hand from moving and your arm from getting tired.
-
Hold the question in your mind.
-
Watch to see what answer the pendulum gives you.
"This (exercise)also will help them to connect more to their Guides...they can ask them to come forward and sense their energies too...in time they will begin to 'hear' them better also. Its sharpening that sensing that does it! And working with the energies themselves, they'll get the 'feel' of their Guide better".
Hope that helps those just beginning.
So lets get started.
Question:
Are my (meaning Starr) eyes blue?
Yes or No.
Post your results below and will give you the correct answer later.
If you don't get the correct answer,
don't get discouraged....practice makes perfect.
Keep trying.
