Fire corresponds with the South, it faces the body of Earth. It represents the spirit, energy infused in its eastern border mind and instigating a westward emotional uproar. It has no logical thinking, its actions are destroy/create. It is the blood that coarses through your veins, the rapid heart beat when fear is installed. It is the light by which is needed to survive, the photosynthesis process, our own metabolic phases, the heat source. It also destroys all it helps to grow.

Fire has the capability to consume all it touches, whether by direct involvement or its heat alone. It tears down so that new things can begin. It is the destroyer/creator by substance alone. Fire is the predator skills and the prey's rapid heart beating to escape. It is the one element we can not touch without harm, it is the flames that scorn our own soul.
~* Bugbear *~

The synopsis of energy that jumps from cell to cell, keeping our senses awake. The triggers that set your body into either complete ecstasy, cringe in fear or crumple in pure lack of will. We are the hunted, rapid heart beat, pain sensors drop, while the blood rushes to pump through our veins fast enough for us to escape.

It is this over-whelming energy that is the quality of fire. It is the Sun in its huge burning rage, it's heat we are both warmed and burned by.

"Fire of course means Light and Illumination in all possible senses, and it has only been our control over fire that raised us from primitive animal level to our present dubious civilisation. Our further control of this Element on Inner levels is the only factor likely to raise us further toward Divine status, and it is controlled both Inwardly and outwardly by corresponding methods. As with other elements, Fire must not be used, excepting under suitable conditions. No Element can ever be applied in its pure unmodified state without the near-certainty of causing destruction to materials unable to bear such energy. This is certainly true Inwardly, and is the cause of mcuh spiritual damage to souls unprepared for Elemental energies."

"The Instrument of Fire being the Rod, it is scarcely necessary to add a great deal more at this point that has previously been said about it. Originally the Rod controlled Fire because it was a means of carring it safely from one point to another, or keeping a blaze in check without being burned. Today, we may think of an electric conducting lead as being a Rod bringing a modern version of fire to our homes, and also the control rods of an atomic pile. Alternately we might think of a Rod as a fire-hose controlling fire with water. The principle of a Rod directing and controlling the Fire Element can be applied in many ways."

"As the Archangelic Intelligence and Overlaord of Fire, Michael is an admirable figure, with his Solar associations. He personifies Right and Reason triumphing over Wrong and Ignorance. The best in us overcoming our worst. When we consider the damage possible by physical fire, the necessity for seeking safeguards from Inner levels against their Fire properly. He is too well known a Being to need much pictorial description, thoguh a little known attribute of his is the scales (balance) in which he weighs souls after death to sort the worth from the unworthy."

"It is Michael that is said to heal diseases of organic nature by restoring the unbalanced conditioin to normal. His Spear is also Balance-Staff. We should always visualise Michael as surrounded by brilliant Light which he modifies in any necessary way. The old legend of an emerald being struck from Michael's crown by Lucifer, which subsequently became the Holy Grail, is a most beautiful one. The Graal was not originally a Cup, but a Platter, which Symbol of course belongs to Earth. The significance of this Myth, is that Solar energy is brought by Light to Earth, where it is converted to sustenance for LIfe in the emerald green of fertile fields, and the herbs of healing."

"Angels were said to be made of Fire or pure radiant energy. So we should see Michael, whose spear is his Magic Rod transforming Elemental Fire into forms that are safe for us to handle or deal with. We should aim to study his methods and apply them to ourselves. Every time we light a candle with an ordinary match, we are deputising as Michael and his Rod bearing Fire safely. "

WHAT ARE CORRESPONDENCES?

Everything has certain elemental qualities, which are called "correspondences". Just as we are all born uder a certain sign of the zodiac, and just as our gender, race, nationality, and individual upbriging influence our characters and personal qualities, so correspondences influence the different elements and tools we might use to perform magick. Carefully choosing elements with the right correspondences can help to insure the success of your magickal endevours! Below are Wiccan interpretations of elemental correspondences and phases for moon magick.

DEITIES OF FIRE:
Hawaii

From Encyclopedia Mythica comes a brief but useful entry on Pele:

The Hawaiian (Polynesian) goddess of the fire in the volcano, the mother of eruptions. She is a ravishing, whimsical goddess who resides in the volcano Kilauea on Hawaii. Daughter of the goddess Haumea. She is the personification of the (female) power of destruction and her jealous rages were believed to cause Kilauea's eruptions. Pele also controls lightning....Pele appears in many forms, such as a young child, a beautiful young girl or an old crone. She usually wears black....

DEITIES OF FIRE:
Greek

Hephaistos & Thetis
(Staatliche Museen zu Berlin)

This is "Hephaestus," an entry-level compilation of data based on the Iliad and Homeric Hymns.  Here's a brief excerpt concerning the expulsion of Hephaestus from Olympus, an event that led to his becoming a smith and creating rare beauty:

...That would have been a dangerous time, had not Thetis and Eurynome taken me in-- Eurynome, daughter of the tidal Ocean. Nine years I stayed, and fashioned works of art, brooches and spiral bracelets, necklaces, in their smooth cave, round which the stream of Ocean flows with a foaming roar: and no one else knew of it, gods or mortals....

Fire Deities

Apollo is associated with the fire of the Sun as it is he who was considered the driver of the horses of His chariot that makes its way from east to west across the heavens.  Depiction of the Greek god in this role is almost identical with that of the Indian sun god,  Surya.  In China, it is Zhu Rong who is the deity that ensures the sun's regular habits.

In Greek mythology, Hestia, goddess of the hearth or home-fire, is a daughter of Chronos and Rhea, and like Apollo, one of the 12 Olympian deities.  The Romans adopted her as Vesta, but transformed her cult to some degree.  On the 13th of August, Diana the Protectress was worshipped with fires around her sacred pool in the grove at Nemi, and she was honored in similar fashion at people's own homes.

The epithet, Vesta, emphasized her identification with sacred fire.  (The sacred scripture of Zoroastrian (Persian) religion whose most potent symbol is fire, is called the Zend Avesta.)  Noble Roman families were honoured to have a daughter chosen for lifelong service as one of the Vestal virgins whose duty it was to ensure that the sacred flame was eternally maintained at her temple, for the safety of Rome was believed to depend on it.  The uninterrupted flame was, in turn, believed to be dependant upon their scrupulous chastity.

In the Zoroastrian tradition where fire is the ultimate symbol of divinity, there are three fire-types: priestly Farnbag, Gushnasp -- fire of warriors, and Burzen Mir -- fire of workers.  Holy fire is also of three types: Bahram, the king and symbol of righteousness, Adaran, effective against forces of darkness and Dadgah, a lesser, though still effective, kind.

But essential fire, addressed as Son of God, is considered the embodiment of Ahura Mazda (or Ormazd) who is all-good and all-light.

In Japanese myth, Kagutsuchi or Homusubi are names for the Fire-god.

The Toltec (Mexican) Old God, Xiuhtecuhtli is the creator and he is depicted as a toothless old man carrying a brazier on his back.

Finnish myth says that fire is a child of the sun that is cradled in a copper tub.

Fire is sometimes known as the living element. It is perhaps the most ancient symbol of divinity. Fire is a living principle of duality, providing light and heat to aid humankind, while at the same time being a force of death and destruction. The eternal flame is a common theme in ancient Mystery Cults and typically represents the eternal presence of Divinity. Among the ancient Greeks, Hestia symbolized the divine living flame, as did Vesta among the Romans.

The ancients believed that fire could lie hidden in a piece of wood. By rubbing two pieces together the fire could often be coaxed from the wood. Once fire was produced the ancients often transported the flame on the end of a giant fennel stick, a custom that later associated fennel with the forces of light. The connection of fire as the living spirit latent in wood drew worshippers to establish and maintain sanctuaries for their deities within the forests, long after the creation of towns and cities. According to ancient legend, statues of deities were encased in a bundle of branches and transported to a new location when another sacred grove was to be established. In this manner the "fire" of the deities' spirit was conveyed from grove to grove.

In modern Wicca, Fire is one of the four creative elements. It is traditionally linked to the color red, although this does differ among the various traditions. As a magickal agent the element of fire is symbolized by a ritual tool. Some traditions assign elemental Fire to the ritual blade because the blade was forged in Fire. Other traditions assign it to the wand because of the use of wood as a torch. In astrology the zodiac sign Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are associated with Fire.

Fire Gods

Adro: Fire magic.

Aegir: Aegir was the primary Norse (Scandinavian) god of the sea. He was a deification of the ocean, both in the calm, beautiful aspects, and in the torrential, destructive aspects. Storms were caused by his anger and it was said that a ship which had wrecked went into "Aegir's wide jaws". Sailors feared Aegir, and thought he would come up to destroy ships. Because of this it is believed that early Anglo-Saxons made human sacrifices to a god of the sea, most likely Aegir, to prevent him from wrecking their ships.
Aegir was crowned with seaweed and was always surrounded by mermaids while in his hall. Gold was put onto the floor of the hall to provide light rather than having a fire. This is why gold was sometimes called "Aegir's fire". Every winter the gods would drink ale at Aegir's hall. Aegir brewed ale for the gods once Thor brought him a big enough kettle. Because of this, he was famed for his hospitality, which was a greatly important virtue to the Norse peoples. The cups in Aegir's hall were always full, replenishing themselves by magic.
Aegir had two servants in his hall, Fimafeng and Eldir. He was son of Mistarblindi and husband of Ran. Ran and Aegire lived under the sea near the island Hlesey. Together they had nine daughters who were the waves.

Agni: Hindu fire god. He is a part of all things, the essence of life.
It was said that he consumed his parents when he was born, for they could not provide for him; this is symbolic of the fire born when two sticks are rubbed together because the sticks are consumed as well once the fire grows.
Agni loves all his worshippers equally. He visits everyone's hearth and gives them equal fire regardless of their social class. When people use fire, they must face it towards the proper direction. When facing East, the fire should be used for sacrifices to the gods. When facing South, the fire should be used for sacrifices to the spirits of the dead. A fire made to cook food should always face toward the West. Agni is also associatied with sex and virility in men. Invoke for the element of fire, purity, fertility.

She probably began as a sun goddess. According to legend, she was born at sunrise and a tower of flame beamed from her head.
As goddess of fire and water, she is immortalized by many wells and springs. Most important of her monuments, though, was a shrine at Kildare where there was a perpetual flame burning for Brigit. It was tended by nineteen virgins called the Daughters of the Flame. They would not talk to men, nor could men come near the shrine.
When Christianity began its onset, so loved was Brigit that she was made a saint. However, the upkeep on her flame was considered pagan by the church and it was extinguished out of more than a thousand years of burning. St. Brigit remains one of the most popular Irish saints today, along with Saint Patrick.
Identical to Juno, Queen of Heaven. Symbolizes human potential. Also known as Brigit, Brigid, Brigindo, Bride.

Prometheus: In Greek mythology, Prometheus was the titan who stole fire from the gods and gave it to humans, along with the arts and civilization. He was also often regarded as the creator of man from clay, the first human, and humanity's savior when Zeus threatened to kill all human beings. He greatly offended Zeus by his actions and was punished. There are different sources with different accounts of the legend.
In Hesiod's version, Zeus' punishment was the creation of Pandora, the first woman, who was overtaken by temptation and opened a forbidden box thereby unleashing all the lamentations and evils of the world.
In the Aeschylean version, Zeus had Prometheus chained to a rock on Mount Caucasus where an eagle ate away at his liver, starting all over each day after the liver had grown back during the night. He is eventually rescued by Hercules.

ELEMENT OF FIRE
SOUTH/NORTH

Fire is the element of change, will and passion. In a sense it contains within it all forms of magick, since magick is the process of change.
Fire magick can be frightening. The results manifest quickly and spectacularly. It is not an element for the faint-hearted. However, it is the most primal and for this reason is much used.
This is the realm of sexuality and passion. It is no only the "sacred fire" of sex, it is also the spark of divinity which shines within us and all living things. It is at once the most physical and spiritual of the elements.

DEITIES OF FIRE:
Ireland

Brigit

From the handsome site of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids (or OBOD) comes a lengthy, thoughtful 1995 essay by Winter Cymres, "Brigid: The Survival of a Goddess."  The page looks in depth at both the history and lore associated with this multi-faceted goddess:

...Brigid is the traditional patroness of healing, poetry and smithcraft, which are all practical and inspired wisdom. As a solar deity Her attributes are light, inspiration and all skills associated with fire. Although She might not be identified with the physical Sun, She is certainly the benefactress of inner healing and vital energy.

The fires of inspiration, as demonstrated in poetry, and the fires of the home and the forge are seen as identical. There is no separation between the inner and the outer worlds. The tenacity with which the traditions surrounding Brigid have survived, even the saint as the thinly-disguised Goddess, clearly indicates Her importance....

...She possesses an unusual status as a Sun Goddess Who hangs Her Cloak upon the rays of the Sun and Whose dwelling-place radiates light as if on fire....

Fire

...Take a moment to watch a candle burning. See how the wax forms a puddle at the base of the wick and is drawn up the wick to feed the flame, as the air feeds it from above. See how this combination of liquid, solid and gas comes together to make Fire, which transforms its fuel to light and heat. Yet another of the mysteries of our world...the way that fire can transform anything we feed it to pure energy, leaving only a small amount of ash...which is itself a nutrient for the soil...

...whether it is the miracle of a single candle flame, or the raging destruction of a forest fire, Fire is an element whose power for transformation is immediately apparent...

Perhaps the greatest source of Fire we know is our Sun. This ball of burning gasses provides all living things on Earth with warmth and light. Without it, life as we know it would be impossible. By the miracle known as photosynthesis, our cousins the plants are able to capture the energy of the Sun in a form that both they and we can use for nourishment. The sugars made by plants using the light of the Sun form the basis for all foodstuffs...and when we eat these sugars and starches, we break them down to release the energy they have stored.

Energy is the currency of life. It is the vibration of the molecules in our cells that allow those molecules to come together so that our cells can be built. Energy allows us to move our muscles to go in search of food, to gather and prepare it, and to consume and digest it. It is the heat that makes us respond to the opposite sex and the fuel for the acts that reproduce the species. Our brains, hearts, and bodies require it to function.

As above, so below. The Sun burns above us...and its energy supports life. The energy we consume we can translate into useful work. That work we can trade for the things we cannot do for ourselves, and our work supplies the needs of others. Any energy that is in excess after our basic needs are met, we can burn off in the pursuit of pleasure.

....Think for a moment about what energy means to you. Most of the time we think of having energy as being awake enough to keep our minds on whatever we do for a living. But it takes energy to propel our bodies out of bed and into clothes and into our cars. We know it takes energy to propel those cars to where we work. It takes energy to make the buildings we work in, and to light and heat those buildings, and to run our computers. And it takes energy to heat the water to make the coffee that gives us the feeling of awakeness that we need to concentrate on what those computers are showing us....But it's the sun's warmth captured in the molecules of caffeic acid that gives us that sense of energy...

Fire is associated with the South in this hemisphere. Certainly it is easy to think of the great deserts and tropical jungles to the south of us. Even on the shortest days, the Sun rises in the South and shines upon us from this direction. Fire is associated with noon, when the sun is at its zenith in the sky. It is associated with Summer, that time when the Sun is with us for long days that ripen produce. It is associated with young adulthood, that time of life when we expend huge amounts of energy training and making careers for ourselves...the time of life when we expend large amounts of sexual energy to find the mates we wish to have children with...and to produce those children.

Sex and passion are definitely associated with Fire.

...Think for a moment of Summer. The Sun is high and hot. The crops are planted and ripening...or the lessons are learned and the kids are on summer break....or the paycheques are in the bank and you are given a holiday. And the weather is good, so you want to travel. It's a time for seeing new sights and traveling in search of pleasure...and oh, what pleasures can be found. Everyone is dressed as lightly as possible in the heat, and we see displays of flesh that get our hormones pumping. We can renew our pleasure in our partners or meet new partners in our travels. We get out of the cities and feed our souls with the beauties of the natural world...or with the cultures of other civilisations. It's a time when everyone is moving, everyone is socialising, and everyone is eating well of the foods that are ripening to fuel all this activity...

Movement is one of the themes of Fire, and when we build the great bale-fires at the Sabbats, we often raise energy by dancing around them. Dancing is one of the most effective ways to raise energy and alter consciousness that we have: it keeps us in our bodies but makes our circulation of both blood and energy increase markedly. It is a wonderful way to dislodge blockages by increasing the energy flowing by them. It also pulls people together, moving to the same rhythm, creating a movement of bodies around the fire and a movement of energy in harmony.

Magical techniques associated with fire are candle magic, burning of anything, scrying in flames, and dancing around fires.

...Find some music that has a very strong drumbeat. Light a candle and turn out the lights. Put the music on and let your body start to move with the rhythm and flow. Feel how your muscles and joints loosen up as you move them. Feel your connection to the earth and how it is broken and reformed each time you lift and replace your feet. Feel how you begin to breathe deeper as you move, and how your breath molds itself to the rhythm. Let yourself dance freely. Dance with your shadow. Sing along if you can...use a rattle if you have one. Keep dancing for as long as you have energy and enjoy it...and stop...

...and tune into your body...hear your heart pound...feel the energy in your legs and arms....feel the depth of your breath and feel how warm you are...you've been burning lots of energy doing this...and feel your energy flowing...feel how everything is speeded up...feel how it flows...

...and realise how outward movement can make things move in the hidden parts of your being...and the subtle, energetic parts of your being...

...Do some light exercise while you slow down and drink lots of water...and record your experience...

Fire heals by getting things moving. It can help one overcome the stagnation of apathy, the heaviness of depression, or the distant coldness of intellectualisation. It also heals by transforming one form of energy to another.

Fire corresponds to Will, that force within us that keeps us selecting goals and moving toward them, dealing with the obstacles and challenges we find in our path. It's the spiritual quality of strength of purpose, and it helps us deal with obstacles and challenges. It motivates us and helps us motivate others to work with us for common goals. It gives us courage (from coeur, French for "Heart") when we are dis-cour-aged or dis-heart-ened.

...Think for a moment about a time when you felt discouraged....when it seemed like you had come up against an insurmountable obstacle. And think about the different ways you have managed to move beyond obstacles. Sometimes we attack and try to destroy them or defeat them so they'll move out of our way. Sometimes in attacking, we can scare the obstacles off. Sometimes we try to scramble over them. Sometimes we try to find a way around them, using cleverness to sneak by. Sometimes we go another way. Sometimes we can take the time to befriend the obstacle so that it no longer wishes to impede our progress. Sometimes we try to find out what the person or thing in our way needs and provide it so that the obstacle can move on.

...Think of times when you have used each of these strategies. Think of other ways you have been able to proceed in spite of obstacles. Then think of an obstacle you are facing now. What is your instinctual approach? What are some other possibilities you could use to be able to continue on your path? Talk about some of these possibilities with a friend and then try them out. See how they work....perhaps you now have some new tactics for getting where you know you need to be... Flexibility and Creativity are among of the gifts of Fire.

The magical tool associated with the South and Fire is the Wand (some traditions - such as Sacred Mists - teach that the wand is associated with Air. Depending on the work, Lady Raven uses the wand as the association of Air or Fire), which conducts and aims the energy of the practitioner out to his/her goals. Actually, the athame and sword are often used in much the same way, and sometimes the assignments of these tools are reversed, with the wand in the East and the athame in the South. I prefer to place the Wand in the South because the Tarot suit of Wands corresponds to Fire, the suit of creative work, energy, and overcoming obstacles... Major Arcana associated with Fire are the Emperor, Strength, the Devil, the Tower, and the Sun.

One of the magical functions of Fire is protection. It is the energy that sets boundaries and rings alarms when those boundaries are crossed. Many techniques for self-protection involve surrounding oneself with light. That light might absorb any negative energy that comes toward you, or it might transform it, burning it in the way of fire to create a neutral energy.

As one progresses on the Wiccan path, the question of will comes up many times. First one embraces the Rede which commands that we not harm others and that we learn what our will is and do it. It commands that our actions must be directed by our own wills...not by the whims of others or by our fears, reflexes, or addictions... but by what we have consciously chosen as our will. Then comes the realisation that when we search for our will, this means looking beyond convenience or habit to look for a higher will or purpose. A Wiccan might not say, as Jesus did, "Thy Will not mine be done." But we do learn that there is a higher Will related to a higher good, and sooner or later we who pledge ourselves in the service of the God/dess will be looking for ways to bring our own wills into alignment with Her Will.

....take a moment to sit in silence, and let your mind become very still. Ground in the way you normally do and feel your body....feel its solidness and its flows...feel your heartbeat and feel the flows of energy in your body. Center in the way you normally do, and let your thoughts still as you focus on the light in the center of your head...

...now let that centered focus drift downward through your being, so that you become aware of the bright light burning in your heart, and let it drift further down so that you come to a place in the very center of your being, somewhere between your solar plexus and your navel. See the light that shines there. Breathe deeply to feed the flame. Use your breath to draw the energy of the Earth and the energy of the Heavens into that flame and see it flare brighter. See it burn like a small, brilliant Sun in the center of your being...

...and think of a question you have been looking for an answer to. Ask this question and let it burn in this flame of golden light. Let the smoke be carried to the Goddess...and wait for an answer....

....if the answer doesn't seem to make sense...or if it seems like something unattainable, ask how you could proceed if you wanted to bring it about, and wait for an answer. Keep this light burning as you map out the first steps you would take to bring this goal about...

...and when you know how to proceed, offer a prayer for the strength, clarity, and will to succeed in your aim....and let the light in your center flare a thank you for the guidance you have received....let that light spread through your being for a moment, to empower you to do what is necessary to meet your goal...and let it fade into an underlying awareness that you know your Will and how to achieve it....

This light of Will that burns at our core is sometimes called Spirit. People define Spirit in many different ways, and my own definition is still evolving: for me it has to do with this process of aligning my will with Divine Will and my light with Divine Light. Many esoteric traditions put this quality or aspect of being called Spirit in the South with Fire. Some place Spirit in the Center of the circle, where all the elements come together.

The angel associated with Fire is Michael, chief of the archangels, known as the Warrior of God. I don't see Michael as a Rambo of the heavens; he is an arm of the God/dess and his flaming sword dispenses justice, balance, and protection to all the children of the One. He is often depicted in armor, like the ideal chevalier of the Middle Ages, protector of the weak and helpless. Like a true warrior, he would rather settle disputes peaceably than with violence. He is dressed in red and scarlet, the colours of Fire, courage, and honour.

All the elements have a destructive side; hurricanes, floods, and landslides can kill as surely as fire. But there is something about the consuming hunger of fire that strikes fear in people. Certainly the virtues of this element...transformation, protection, and fighting spirit...need to be carefully contained and directed or they can also be destructive. Certainly the warrior spirit has gone completely out of control many times in human history.

I also believe that the Catholic church had a stroke of genius when they elected to use Fire as a tool of execution for those who strayed from their teachings. They also made fire their symbol of eternal suffering. By creating an almost universal fear of fire, they also made us afraid of our fighting spirit, our will to communicate with Divinity in our own way and work toward our own goals, afraid of our very creativity. It was a wonderful weapon to keep people from expressing individuality and independent spirit. I think that the witches' willingness to embrace the Fire in their being is far closer to the "devil worship" Christians fear in us than is our gentle horned God.

Fire is about facing fears and overcoming them.

....Sometime around the first quarter moon, think of something that you have always wanted to do but let fear hold you back. It might be facing up to a particular type of authority figure. (like your father or boss) It might be acting in a way that would give you a feeling of freedom (like making love outdoors) It might be trying a new creative outlet. (Like belly dancing)

....Whatever it is....write it on a piece of paper, and put that paper under a red candle. Light the candle and watch the flame. Get yourself centered in your power center as in the exercise above, and envision yourself doing this thing. See the obstacles you will have to overcome, and make plans to get around them. Feel the freedom, excitement, and empowerment of doing this thing within that flame of Will inside. Do this every night until the full moon....and then do whatever it is that you have been building the courage to do. Once it is done, burn the paper, and offer the light as a thank you to the Element of Fire...and the ashes to Mother Earth...

The fire elementals are called Salamanders. They are brilliant, ephemeral creatures that dance in flames. They will help you overcome obstacles, and they like people who have the courage to act on their truth. They will help you protect yourself when you must...and have little patience for willing victims. While they enjoy playing in flames and will come when you light candles or fires, the gift they appreciate most is an act of courage.

Magical Goals Aided By Fire:

Athletics
Banishing Illness
Competitions and contests
Courage
Creativity
Defense
Loyalty
Protection
Sex
Strength
Success

You might wish to make an altar in the southern part of your house to honour the Element of Fire and the Salamanders. Drape it and decorate it in red and orange. Offer candles, snakeskins, sand, desert roses, and red stones. Welcome the Element and the Salamanders to make this their home. Then light the candles on this altar when you ask your Higher Will for guidance or work on your fears.

When invoking the Element or elementals of Fire use the symbols offered in the background of this page. A Fire Invoking Pentagram starts at the top, moves to the lower right, and continues around to repeat this line. Fire can also be invoked using the circle with a triangle in the middle, or a red triangle. To release the element, draw the Air Releasing Pentagram shown in the bottom left corner, which is a reversal of the Invoking Pentagram. If you use the red triangle or triangle in a circle, see the flames burning out through it, then see it folding in upon itself and disappearing.

A Sample Invocation to the South and Fire

Guardian of the South, Mighty Michael:
Hold this corner of our circle and let the flames burn in it.
Send the clever Salamanders to help our healing work.
Bless us with the movement and energy of the flames,
With the passion of the summer heat,
With your own strength and courage,
And the pure clear glow of Will.

We feel you and welcome you.
Blessed Be.

Blessings of the Fire to you...
