Neptune's Cooling Day
Color of the day: Topaz Incense of the day: Marjoram
In the heat of the July summer, who wouldn’t welcome a bit of rain? This spell is best done in the morning. Spread a silver or grey cloth on the ground, and place a bowl of water in the center. After calling directions, chant:
Water of the sacred clouds, Water of the ancient swells, Rain and mist upon us pour, The land will blossom evermore.
Place the water on one of your plants, infusing it with healthy blessings. In ancient Roman times this was the festival of Neptune, when shelters of leaves and branches were raised in fields to honor Neptune and ensure his help in bringing rain for the coming season. The locals would picnic under these cool structures. To further the spell, why not pack a fish lunch, think of Neptune, and eat al fresco?

Negativity Shield
Color of the day: White Incense of the day: Neroli
People don’t like to have negative energy nibbling at them. Plants don’t like to be nibbled by herbivores, either. They have devised many defensive strategies to protect themselves, including bristly leaves, bitter taste, and thorns. Two plants with excellent protective qualities are thistle and hollyhock, both readily available during the summer. To make a protective charm, find a small metal box. Carefully gather a small piece of thorny thistle leaf and bristly hollyhock leaf. Press and dry them. Place the dried leaves in the box and seal it. Chant three times:
Thistle and hollyhock, All harmful magic block.
Store the box in a safe place, and never open it. This will help against negative energy, psychic attacks, and other such unpleasantness.

New Home Blessing
Color of the day: Turquoise Incense of the day: Balsam
When you move into a new home, it is a good time to welcome Hestia to your hearth. This spell is best done when your home is empty, but even if you moved in a while ago, this simple ritual will ignite her presence. In the “heart”of your home, take a broom and start to sweep, moving in a clockwise direction. Sweep around the area three times, chanting:
Hestia of the Hearth and home, Bless this space I call my own. Make my household Trouble free, Dearest Hestia, Make it be.
Now brush the dust outside and bring in a table or chair to use as an altar. Place fresh flowers and baked goods on your altar. Sprinkle salt in each corner of the room in a clockwise direction (this keeps the negative spirits away). Open the windows and let the sunshine in.

New Mom's Spell
Color of the day: Silver Incense of the day: Narcissus
Know a new or soon-to-be mom? Buy a mirror for her room or hallway and make or buy a baby blanket for her and her new child. Think of all the good wishes you want to bestow upon them both while purchasing or making it. When done, take the mirror, look into it, and say:
In love, your reflection will echo back between the years, ’tween mother and a child. May precious memories, through this mirror, reflect all the blessings I have for you. Love, long life, and joys to discover: protect this bond between child and mother.
Wrap the mirror in the blanket and then present them both as gifts. Instruct her to hang it somewhere where she and her child will pass often.

New Project Blessing
Color of the day: Coral Incense of the day: Orchid
Whether they are the simple chores that keep the house functional, the crowning research of our educational path, the next expression of our creative selves, or the new major crisis the boss places on our desks at work, our lives are filled with projects. This is a little blessing for the start of a new project to get it off on the right foot.
Maiden Goddess, spirit bright, who blossoms forth in spring, please share the emerging energy of the Earth. Mother Goddess, warming flame, who shines throughout the summer, please share the fertility of your fires. Ancient Goddess, vessel of wisdom, who holds us close in the season of slumber, please share the knowledge of the ages. Goddess, in all your forms, lend your guidance and support to this undertaking. Let it be my best work and the best expression of the gifts I possess. So mote it be.

A New Chance at Freedom Spell
Color of the day: Gray Incense of the day: Cedar
Bona Dea was a Roman goddess exclusive to women. She was prayed to by slaves seeking freedom and by women who needed aid in health matters. Make a paper chain out of construction paper. Place it around an object you wish to be free of, such as a bad relationship or a job (a picture of where you work, or of the person you wish to be free of, will suffice). Around the chain of paper, fix an altar with a variety of food, and wine with two glasses. Take some deep breaths and center yourself and chant:
Bona Dea, free me, From this [object], Release me. Bona Dea, free me From these chains That hold me. Bona Dea, free me, So that I can be me.
Take the chain in your hand and break it into pieces. Rip the picture into pieces as well. Now sweep these into the fire, sit down and eat. Pour the wine and invite the good goddess, making sure to toast her and your newfound freedom.
