I heard they are quite tasty in a salad when prepared correctly.

Yes, Race, we are full of agaves here and in all middle and south Italy. It grows easily also into sand. I too heard of the leaves good to be eaten but I never trayed.
 
About Tequila, well you may try to drink it as we do. You need salt and a lemon. Lick your hand between the thumb and the index and then put salt on it, cut the lemon.
 
You suck the salt, drink the tequila all in once and immediatly suck the half lemon. It's not only nice but also a kind of rite to do with friends.
 
Margarita cocktail is the upper class version of it, they use Cointreau too. A thing for invertebrates ......

I've always wanted to try tequila! But I usually stick to beer, to be honest with you. Still, I am going to the pub this evening, so might treat myself to a glass of white wine.
