I agree with the realizations you have expressed regarding the
Angel's visit. Awesome, eh?
One question "why you?", you were predestined to have your gift your connection with your guides and angels manifest this way.
Your angels and guides have been with you always and would have changed as you grew. You probably have a new guide right now that know's you are seeking and ready to connect and receive guidance from them. You may have already met your guide in a dream I want to say a female 30ish long light brown wavy hair here name sounds like a B name Beth? Bethany? hmmmm not sure.
You are off to a great start in learning and opening up the connection with your guide through reading info here and asking questions.
One method that many have found helpful and that had always helped me to connect through dreams and intuition I had written out to give a guideline that would help others use this method also to connect with their guides. It is Dream Insight (click on the blue Dream Insight and it will take you to that page).
Use it as it best works for you, your own visualiztion, words, etc. Let me know how it goes.
