I think Doug played it down tonight. He needed this exposure but he never once thought he'd win something like AI, not with his particular 'alternative' bent. And winning this would lock him into something that likely wouldn't give him much creative control (and he has proven time and again that he can handle complete creative control over the arrangements and everything else). So he knows he needs to go the route of Daughtry and do his own thing. With this exposure, he's pretty likely to find a market.
