Has anyone used The Bradley Method? or done waterbirth? or used a doula or a midwife?
I am interested in The Bradley Method and I have the two books and I'm thinking of taking the classes, but i want to make sure it is worth the time and money. I am also using a midwife, but it is a CNM so they are directly under an OB who is on call for the birth as well. |

My older sister used a midwife and had a water birth with her last child. She said it was more comfortable, but the actual water birth was an accident! She was in a jacuzzi and Kaden decided to make an entrance haha. The midwives were really nice though. I wanted to get in their office, but they were all full. I don't know what the Bradley Method is though? |

it is a form of natural birt techniques. at first i thought it was like lamaze, but as i have been reading more there are a lot of differences. like the breathing is natural in bradley. um, also you can or do use a coach, which is often the husband/father, etc. i like it because it gets my husband involved, too, and keeps him close when i need him. so far, i have just really liked it because even though i may ended up not dealing with the pain well and requesting an epidural, i want to try to do it naturally since i have never had a child before, i don't want to feel like i am giving up by just deciding to do the drugs automatically. i don't know... i know people do...and i think it is usually fine, but i am just stubborn that way! the bradly method was started by a doctor awhile ago who didn't like the methods that were being used like twilight birth. i think hospitals and some doctors tend to treat everything as an emergency because that is what they are used to, so they react differently to something that can be natural most of the time. i think bradley supposedly has a 90% success rate for natural birth. |

also, you can combine things like water birth or just water labor with bradley. i like that too because i don't think i want to water birth, but i might want to be in water for part of labor...it is supposed to naturally help some people. |
