I'm here.  I would like to discuss some issues regarding spending and maybe learn from the discussion.  I'm open to anything that you'd like to discuss.  I realize we're both at work today, but I'll try to keep up my end of the discussion.  See you in a bit.

Oh...and taking down Saddam has turned out only to MAYBE be good for the IRAQI's but i still don't know if that's clear yet.  Yes he was a brutal, scumbag dictator, but he didn't mess with anyone except his own people.  He was a very secular man and he HATED Muslim extremists who insist their women cover up and live a life of modesty.  Saddam liked his excesses, his sluts and kept anything he couldn't control, i.e. TERRORISTS  OUT of Iraq.  Now that he has been taken down, Al Qaeda and terrorists are pouring in!  Saddam would have crushed any insurgency among his people within hours.  Anyone who disagreed with him was destroyed.  Look what he did to the Kurds...he GASSED them, the miserable b*stard!!!  I am NOT defending him but in retrospect, WE and the rest of the middle east were SAFER and more stable with him in power.  It has now been proven TIME and TIME again that he had NOTHING to do with 9/11, Al Qaeda or terrorists.  Even the BUSH ADMINISTRATION acknowledges that now.  But yeah....now we are fighting terrorism in Iraq as Bush says every chance he gets...but what he DOESN'T say is that it's because our misguided actions in that country allowed the terrorists IN.

Afghanistan....ABSOLUTELY the RIGHT thing to do....and it was done WELL.  We should have STAYED there til we were finished, til the taliban was obliterated <they are attempting to regroup wherever they can> and Osama Bin Laden, the man who ATTACKED us...was CAPTURED or KILLED.

Okay, let's talk about the war in Iraq then.  There is nothing new about the argument that a president lied us into war, but recriminations leveled against GWB's Iraq war are the most outrageous on record.  There is not one shred of evidence that we were manipulated or produced falsified intel for the rationale of starting this war.  Yet liberals keep trying to breathe conspiracy theories into the equation.  Even if the senate intel committee should uncover information that GWB manipulted intel in order to convince us to topple Saddam, that would not affect the question of whether the war we are in is one we should be fighting.

If anything, the Bush administration has understated the evidence on Iraq's wmd program.  All of the world' intel agencies, including those of Russia and Jordan agreed that Saddam had chemical and biological weapons not to mention an accelerated nuclear weapons program.  Alot of our previous intel had underestimated other nations nuclear capacity (Soviet Russia, China, Pakistan, India, No. Korea and Iraq itself prior to Operation Desert Storm.  Baathist Iraqs ties to terrorism including Al Qaeda are a matter of record.  That, coupled with the fact that WJC allowed the UN inspectors out of Iraq in 1998 stoked GWB's sense of urgency.  I specifically remember the urgency that I felt at that time to take this perp out.

The power-hungry liberals thirst for inquests and tribunals is a last ditch desperation effort to validate their fevered fantasies while smearing (in a partisan manner) the integrity of Bush.  The old big lie technique....keep repeating the allegation and eventually it will stick.

And if I might add about Clinton, he could've come out of the Lewinsky scandal much better if he had copped to it and said "if you had to sleep with Cankles everynight, wouldn't you"?  Hell, half the beer drinking rednecks can understand that language.

Neumie, there you go again. Did anybody (on this thread) bring up the issue of GWB lying us into war? True or not, that wasn't the [current] attack on GWB. I'll have to assume that since you are ignoring those attacks, it's because you feel prepared to defend him on the war front, but not on the deficit issue or on his rampant evangelism...

I just want all the facts to be made known.  The TRUTH to be made known. If it is PROVEN that no one in the administration manipulated us into this war in Iraq, isn't sanctioning torture being employed in secret or lied to us about why we are in Iraq, I will send Neumie a signed copy of "Ten Minutes From Normal".

The inquests being done now are at the behest of liberals, democrats AND republicans who now are starting to realize that they were lied to and misled.  And these inquests are not about power...they are about WHY our troops are being killed there....and WHY we are killing civilians over there.  It's about life and death.  It's about war or peace.  It's NOT about a land deal or a bl*w job.  I'm sure you had no problem when an inquest was brought upon a democratic President about THOSE things.

Our Media likes to harp on Iraq, so I can understand where this confusion is coming from. But "We never left Afghanistan" I think somewhere down the road someone got us confused with RUSSIA and spread that nasty rumor, (musta been Bin Laden)
As for Bin Laden, He isn't in afghanistan, he is tucked away over in Pakistan our so called Allied, I have to do a little more research to give you more of a explanation as to why we can't just invade, but its late now and I have a long work day tomorrow. I just wanted to stress mainly we never left Afganistan, I have read that several times (not just here)and just don't get why people think we did.

Last seen, Osama was moving into Finnie's old house, and apparently he found quite a bit of dust all over the joint. Too much time online, finnieDearest?

As for having WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, if just plain having them is reason enough to attack a country....then you've just given Al Quaeda a perfect excuse for having attacked the United States.

We should never have gone into Iraq when we did. PERIOD. This action has signaled the end of the United States as we know it. The rest of the world will never forgive this blunder, and YES Neumie, when they all band together, the rest of the world DOES matter.

I'm not sure the reasons are so obvious. Religion is clearly one reason why you support this President. Equally clearly, it is one reason why I OPPOSE him. Therefore, it's kind of hard for us to argue about him and ignore the issue of religion...

Jimmy and Rosalyn the Baptists were by far the most religious and god fearin' people ever in the White House.  But they kept a clear distinction between church and state.  Jimmy oftens reminds people that Jesus said "Give Unto Caesar what is Caesars, and give unto God what is God's! "
