Considering the only other Rangers player who appears on the top scorer list is Miller with 7 goals, its a very risky move by Walter with no other striker who has a reliable strike on goal

I'm not going to be a hypocrite and make out that i think Boyd is a great striker, or that I think he's good enough for Rangers. However, in the absence of a better option he appears to be the best striker at the club and therefore a strange choice for 'first man out' through the window. Does Walter have a better option available for signing? If so then the window will tell. Does Walter think Lafferty is a better option? If so then why has he been playing Boyd? To sell him? Is that what Rangers are reduced to?

As usual it appears FF is in meltdown at the moment and rumours abound that all the best players are for the off. The thing that gets to me though is how can the financial position have changed so much in the last 6 months that suddenly the club need to start a fire sale? Remember that Edu, Davis and Mendes were all bought after the Kaunus debacle when the likely finances for this year should have been relatively easy to project! If so then we have another example of Murray's ability to spend money he doesn't have to simply get the public off his back, knowing full well that January sales would be inevitable.

More likely to be honest however is that Boyd is simply a player who the manager doesn't really rate that highly and for whom he can receive a decent fee which he can reinvest in a player he needs. Heaven help him though if he fails to get that player or players in!

do you think eck will wait until 2nd feb then increase the bid and get him thus leaving you no time to get in a replacement?

Murray better hope he has somone lined up who can score 30 goals a seson or we can kiss the league good bye!
I know every player has their price but to sell our top goal scorer before the league has finished is suicide! I`m so angry right now.

From what I have seen, Kyle Lafferty is a much superior footballer to Kris Boyd. However, is he as good a goalscorer ? Only time will tell.

If Boyd leaves tomorrow, as seems highly likely, I don't expect Rangers to sign a striker replacement. So maybe big Kyle is going to get the chance to play in his natural position which he has been very patiently waiting for.

The popular but unproven old theory of "if Boyd wasn't scoring the goals against the diddy teams then nobody else would be" is about to be put to the test.

I'll tell you what, I'd rather go to The Piggery in February with big Lafferty up front than Boyd.

Here's a question - with tomorrow's Daily Record headline saying that Rangers will sell Boyd and Ferguson for £6m in total, does it mean that Rangers are admitting that they made a mistake two years ago in getting rid of Paul le Guen and backing Ferguson and his room-mate who very publically backed him ?

Looking at what PLG is doing now after being given some time to build a side at Paris St Germain (5 points off the top of the French league after inheriting a side that was destined for relegation), is Mr Murray now thinking again ?

This is not my opinion, just a debating point.

If Boyd goes then any remote possibility we had of being serious contenders for the league title will go with him.

There are many better footballers at Ibrox than Boyd as we all know but when it comes to being a natural goalscorer none of them are at the races.

Lafferty never seems to be fit and does not look like a player who will score on a regular basis. He may be being played out of position but he wasn't a prolific scorer at Burnley was he?

Novo and Miller can't be faulted for their terrific work-rate but natural goalscorers, no chance. Their composure in front of goal is pathetic at times.

Velicka looked as he could be the answer when we signed him as he had a decent record at Hearts but as usual when we sign someone they seem to be on the treatment table most of the time.

Getting rid of your best striker reminds of the time when we got shot of Forrest and McClean without replacing them with decent strikers for which we paid a high price.

I don't know what's happening at Ibrox these days but there are definitely strange goings on. The situation with Gow has never been explained. I'm afraid Walter has squandered a fair bit of the money supplied on some of the players he has brought in and while I'm grateful for all the success he's brought us in the past I think he has had his day.

Seemingly we have to pay Burnley £1 million this month so this is probably the reason for the panic. The failure in Europe this season has no doubt brought about the crisis but the management should take the full blame due to their ridiculous signing policy at the start of the sesason.

Well, for the three seasons Boyd has been at Rangers we have only challenged for the league once. During that one season Boyd did not feature significantly in anything other than easy home games. My views on this player are well known, he has his attributes in certain situations but can be worse than a man down in others. Rangers need a main frontman who can play all the time, against all opponents.

The bad news tonight is that the expected striker replacement, Lafferty, now has knee ligament damage. He could only be out for a couple of weeks but I think every Rangers fan has heard that diagnosis before. Rangers may now need to sign a striker which I suspect might not have been on the agenda when the Boyd sale decision was sanctioned.

Rangers will give him a sweetener, like they did with Hutton.

Iain, I've been a man short for most of the season; two if you count Robson who has hardly contributed anything to my score.
