Worth a short-term contract at Ibrox to see if he can still kick it ? He's available on a free transfer after falling out with Schalke and being released, and has returned to his house in Newton Mearns while he looks for a club.

Reportedly he's desperate for Rangers to take the chance on him and would be willing to take a low weekly wage, and of course there is no transfer fee involved.

It seems like a no-brainer to me, to be honest. While I think his best position is obviously through the middle, he is a better option out on the left than any of the players we have tried there so far this season.

Ok, so he's a chicken, and he's a diver, and he rips his tights in just about every game. But he scores goals in big games (he regularly scored against Celtic in his first spell, and I recall goals against Inter Milan, Porto and Villarreal in the Champions League) which is something that Kris Boyd never does.

Your thoughts ?

Very few players come back and cut it for a second time and I would be surprised if he were to be one of these.

I must admit I liked him but no way will he ever be a natural goalscore like Boyd although his record in the big games was not too bad. It would be interesting to see his game and goal ratio in games against Celtic compared to Boyd's, who, for all the negative things that is said about his record against them, hasn't actually started many games against them.

It was only last season that Boyd didn't play against Celtic, when Walter playeed 4-5-1. He was a regular pick against them before that.

Boyd has made 5 appearances for Rangers against Celtic, plus probably a lot more than that for Kilmarnock.

One goal, and even that was a goalie error.

Going back to Lovenkrands, I remember he also scored against Stuttgart in the Champions League, and his two goals in the last Old Firm Scottish Cup Final as well, with the 93rd minute winner living in my memory forever.

He scores goals in the big games, he has pace and he can play right, left or centre. And he's available for nothing.

As I said, it's a no-brainer for me. Which means Walter won't sign him.

Fact is we cannot afford anyone unless some people leave!!! What a state!!!!

I'd take him back based on the low weeekly salary!!! and you are correct, what a jump about as he leaned forward and headed that ball into the net...........
