I don't often get the chance to read books like I would like to.   I used to read on a constant basis, but LIFE seems to take over the books you should read as opposed to the material I have to cover as a business owner as well as a foster parent usually leaves me drained of the desire to read one more written word.     But a freind of my daughter was telling us about this book and I picked it up at my daughters house one night and found it incredulously hard to put down.    Dan Brown, the author, has seemed to capture my attention in fiction all the things that I caught my personal interest for past 3 decades.

If you never read another book this year, I will not feel disserviced as this book has totally obsorbed my interests.    Now, I see that there will be a Movie made from it coming in MAY 2006.    Check out this site....

Enjoy......KIA

Yes, myckia, it was a grand ride of a book.  I read it twice, and then I began my own trail of research in trying to track down Brown's sources, both cited, suggested, and insinuated :)  Fascinating stuff, whether taken as possible history or mythology instituted by a religious movement. <g>  I, too, am looking forward to the movie, but ... as with all books that capture both a mood and my mind,... I worry that the screen will fall far short of expectations.

There is a purpose in my reposting part of this reply.. I wanted to give the background of the book (since S.C.E. was asking) w/o having to type it all up again. On a funny note... Brown declaired his book a work of fiction... the gentlemen who wrote "holy blood holy grail" claimed it to be history.at the time.so now they are all trying to backtrack what they said... hehe
Interesting post... although I totally disagree... the logic is faulty imo... especially since Mr. Brown based most of the Da Vinci Code on a previous work "Holy Blood, Holy Grail" by Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln, who in turned got their idea from the Pierre Plantard's Priory of Sion. hoax. The authors of Holy Blood, Holy Grail tried to sue Brown for copywrite infringement. Their claim was overturned by a High Court Judge on April 6, 2006.  I find it utterly ridiculous that the whole world is getting so worked up over a fictious novel based on a book that was based on a hoax. So yes, Mr. Brown wrote the book. But that is all it is... a work of FICTION. I've researched a bit into all of this... and what it looks like to me.. just my opinion now... is that people are getting their panties in a wad for no reason.  I just disagree with the world going ape sh*t over nothing.

Well..   At least One daughter went with me..  we made a day of it..  and boy did we both really NEED that day.

The Movie was awesome.    Tom Hanks, absolutely did pull it off.     Was certainly convinced he Was Robert Langdon.   The Director,  (Richie Cunninham) really had done his homework as well.   There were only a few minor changes from the book, but they seem to work  well for the movie.   Even tho one knows the ending...  cause almost the whole World has read this book, there is a wonderful come-across-the-screen emotional ending.

Would recommend this movie.. even if you have NOT read the book.   It flows.   It is Awesome !    Would even see it again. and I just don't go to the movies only but once every other year or so.    My ticket was $8.50.

Let me know what you all think!!!
