When you chose a crystal - it will seem to 'call' to you as if it has been waiting for you. This is because you and that crystal are on the same frequency.
The crystal will 'catch your eye' and you will feel an immediate connection, even if it is not the crystal you came for. When you hold the crystal in your hand, you will feel a connection of frequency Some people find crystals. Some people 'feel' that crystals find them.
The first important thing to remember about choosing a crystal is to follow your intuition. If you follow your feelings then you can be sure that the crystal you choose is the right one for you. It doesn't have to be a beautiful one, it doesn't have to take any particular shape or form. You should be drawn to the one that is right for you at this moment in time. You may not be able to understand why one particular one leaps out at you but you should feel a natural attraction to it. Don't assume that your crystal will choose you! A crystal that was once right for you at one particular time in your life may have completed its work. It may be time for it to move on. If you feel an overwhelming urge to pass it on to a friend then do so. It is very probable that it is now meant to help them! Let it go with your love and best wishes and you will very soon find another one for yourself.
You may feel many associations and reactions when you find your crystal. This can range from an inner knowledge that you just have to have it; to feeling a physical sensation such as heat, cold, light flashes, shivers and tingling. , even a flash of light.
Methods of Choosing
There are several methods of choosing a crystal. You can choose with your eyes. Spread the crystals in front of you, clear your mind and close your eyes. Open them quickly and select the first crystal that catches your eye. The crystal that you select will be attuned to you.
- You can choose by scanning. Spread the crystals in front of you. Rub your hands vigorously together, close your eyes and relax to clear your mind. Slowly run your hand over the stones. If you are right handed use your left hand, if you are left handed use your right hand. At least one crystal should draw you to it and this will be the one meant for you.
- You can choose a crystal through vibration. Follow the instructions above but this time, feel each crystal to see if you can sense any vibration. The one that vibrates to you will be attuned to you.
- You can ask a pendulum to help you select one that is right for you. Although pendulums are available in most crystal and mineral shops, (or on this site)! you can make your own by using something simple like a key or ring suspended from a shoe lace or piece of string. Hold your pendulum lightly between thumb and first finger. Mentally or out loud, ask your pendulum a yes question. Make a note of how it swings to the answer. For example, ask your pendulum "is my name ...." if the answer is yes, it will swing clockwise or anti clockwise. Wait for it to cease swinging and then ask it a "no" question. It should swing the opposite way clockwise or anticlockwise to that direction of the yes question. A "don't know" question will usually produce a side to side motion.Pass your pendulum slowly over each crystal and ask it, "Is this the crystal for me?" You can also choose a crystal for a friend by this method.
- Choosing by using Kinesiology. This is a test that will amaze even the die hard sceptic! You will need a partner to help you.Stand relaxed and hold your arm out to shoulder level. Ask your partner to place two fingers on the upper part of your extended arm. Ask them to press gently down whilst you resist the pressure. This tests your normal muscle strength. Select a crystal and hold it over the area of your heart. Ask an appropriate question, like , "is this crystal the right one for me"? or "is this crystal good for healing"? Still whilst holding the crystal over your heart area, ask your partner to press down on your extended arm after each question.If your arm stays strong then this is the crystal for you. If your arm weakens try the same test on another crystal.
Caring for your crystals
It is important to cleanse crystals, not only when you get them, but regularly after that too. Crystals pick up vibrations both good and bad and to ensure they work to their full capacity and don't pass negativity on, you need to be aware of the various methods to keep them fully active. Imagine, your crystal has travelled hundreds, possibly thousands of miles before you received it. It has been handled not only by the person who mined for it, but all the other people who have been responsible for it during it's journey. All of these contacts will have left a form of imprint on the crystal.
Quartz crystals and gemstones easily attract all kinds of 'vibrations'; negative as well as positive. The stones are always 'open' to receiving impressions from everyone and everything around them! Your stone, which you have just selected, may well have traveled many thousands of miles before coming to you - and may well have acquired many negative energies and ' vibrations' before it became yours.
Therefore before starting to use your stone for any purpose whatsoever it is very important that you first remove any of these unwanted 'vibrations' and disharmonious energies. You must do everything you possibly can to ensure that only the most natural - and purest - energies remain within your stone.
