Okay math minds, why does this work?

Anyone?

You'll be surprised by the answer. So make sure you do this.

Here is a math trick so neat that it should stump you. Personally, I
would like to know who came up with this.

1. Grab a calculator or pencil. (you won't be able to do this one in your head)
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

Do you recognize the answer?

We just have to rearrange this one a little:

let`s use the phone number 584-2136

584 muhtiplied by 80 and then by 250 is the same as multiplying by 20,000. That just multiplies by 2 and adds 4 zeros. Result is 1168,000. 1168 is twice 584 and will be divided by two later

Adding 1 and then multiplying by 250 is the same as adding 250. 250 is subtracted later, so the effect is nil.

So the result is still 1168,0000.

Now we add 2136 twice and then divide the whole thing by two.
