So the new avian adventures travel cage seems really great but of course it's too small for Dude our B&G.  I contacted the company (via their website) and asked if they are planning to make a larger version for larger birds.

I got a very nice response and yes they are considering making a travel cage for larger birds but it is the issue of the weight that is holding them back.  The smaller version weighs 18 lbs and they think that is the limit of how heavy a cage should be and still be for traveling.  But they are looking into ways that they could make a larger cage lighter.  I suggested that a size 24 inches tall by 36 inches in length by 22 inches wide would be perfect.  So ... if any of you have an interest in this product, I would urge you to contact avian adventures and express your interest.  The more people they know might be potential buyers the more incentive they might have to come up with the product.

The dimensions you wrote sounds much like a dog crate turned on its end. Have you considered using one of those? I think you can get powder coated ones now. Some have a door on the front and on one side.

A dog crate is exactly what we use now when we travel with Dude.  It works okay except that there isn't a grate above the pooping space.  And Dude does like to climb around and the bars are so skinny his poor feet have a hard time grasping the bars.

I had cage pans made for just a couple of dollars at a heating and air conditioning shop. I asked them to "hem" the edges so we wouldn't get any feet cut.
I also have some older cages in which the pans were looking really bad so I had new pans made for them, too.
Problem for you would be that if the cage is placed on end it would not have a slot to slide the tray in and out.
I saw Dude in his dog crate in your Garden album. His poor tail is hanging out. I see why you need a larger one.
Annie
