We have always given our Senegal and Tiel Kaytee Rainbow, and also lots of fresh vegetables and fruits.  Boomer, our Senegal also eats most of what we eat for dinner - minus the bad things like onions etc.  But he loves "people food".  So for convenience I thought I would try Kaytee Kitchen Creations - pasta, precooked beans of all varieties, corn, carrots.  It just has to be cooked in H2O for 5 mins. Both birds wouldn't even take a second taste.  One taste is all it got, and they hated it.  Has anyone else tried this product and get the same response from their bird?  I tried seasoning it with a  very small pinch of garlic powder.  Still no go.

I have tried this. Mostly my hahns macaw only picks at it. I tried the next day and put some seeds in it and he tried a little more. I figured I would give it a rest fro a few days and try again. Good luck with yours.

I would try it daily for several days. Sometimes they just need to get a feel for the new look and texture. Try chili powder on it, too. High vitamin A and it gives it some interesting flavor. I haven't tried Kaytee but I have to "doctor" our Birdy Banquet and such so it tastes like they like.

And see, that's interesting because all of my birds like it.  It's unfair to use the eclectus as the standard, because Shannon will eat almost anything, but both macaws and the sun conure eat it too.  Right now I'm alternating between the Beak Appetite and the Kitchen Creations, and they're eating them about the same.  Of the three flavors, they like the one with the tropical fruit the best.

I have found that cinnamon and ginger are good spices as they both stimulate the appetite. Beak apetite smells like chinese five spice do that may also be an idea if you want to try other seasonings. louise
