I have a new Eclectus female parrot.  I use to have an AG.  She is three and so sweet and docile.  I take her out in the mornings and put her on a stand.  She stays there.  I can not believe it..  My nosy AG would have been all over the cabinet.  She sings, can say hello, hi baby, what, and come in.  She talks alot gibberish.  I named her Ruby.  She didn't have a name.  I have repeated Ruby ever since I got her about a week ago.  Maybe she will  say it eventually. I ordered some Eclectus food from Foster and Smith.  She also has fruit and vegetalbes cut in small chunks.  I got a fuzzy toy to hang, water bottle and a swing to put up today.  I also have different kinds of perches all over the cage.  Any suggestions or advice to help me I would appreciate.  She talks like a little girl.

My suggestion would be to read about them as much as possible. I believe they need additional type of foods. They are such beautiful birds. How did you get so lucky to get one? did you adopt it?

Congratulations, Dermott! The female Eclectus are spectacular!

If you click on Eclectus on the left sidebar, under All Messages, there are quite a few posts there from folks with Ekkies that you can go through. I'm sure someone will be along who is owned by one, who will give you some info.

Again, congratulations, and if you have Eclectus specific questions, just post them in the Eclectus category.

I bought her in a small town called Hermleigh, TX.  The male had died 6 months ago and she decided just to raise AGs.
