I was wondering what is a good seed mix and pellet mix? I am going to feed a lot of natural foods, like veggies and fruits..but I hear they also need pellets and seed mixes in their cages daily.

Wow...a good seed mix and pellet mix.  Well, we've got over 4,000 members, and if we all responded you'd probably get 4 thousand different answers.  There are several excellent seed mixes out there, my gang seem to like the Abba 1500 parrot mix better than most.  I'm making a custom mix for my big guys, since I have two macaws, a sun conure and my ekkie.  So...I get a good dried fruit/veggie mix (Goldenfeast makes some good combinations) and right now the Zupreem Avian Entrees are the pellet of choice.  Volkman's used to make a great eclectus blend of seed/fruit/veggie but changed the formula from the original and my birds didn't care for the new stuff.  Be aware that eclectus can be sensitive to chemical additives and food colorings.  I don't use the colored pellets, and try not to get the vitamin-fortified seeds or fruits.  I pick all of the peanuts out of the seed mix since I don't give peanuts to my birds.  Be kinda sparing of the nuts, ekkies tend to get a bit overweight with too many calories, I know....I had to cut out the pine nuts for mine.

I wouldn't go drastic on a seed mix and pellets right now.  I would see what his breeder is using and start with that--then if you find something you want to switch to, do it gradually.  Bird Talk magazine has lots of ads for different seed and pellets, and most have a website you can check out as a starting point and then start surfing for good prices.

Hopefully there's more ekkie owners on the list that will give you more ideas.
