How horrible, I am just beside myself right now thinking how that sweet thing died.  You poor dear.....I hope and hope that you are not blaming your Mama or yourself.  We ALL have horrible things happen with our sweeties and the ones we are caretakers to then we beat ourselves up when something like this happens.  I swore I'd never get another pet when I lost one much earlier in my life because I knew the death was also senseless...it didn't have to happen....if I did this....or had I done that....and so on.  Yes, we make mistakes, we get weak, we forget things and we get lax....but as long as we learn...I will for sure.  We have to remember we are human and will make mistakes but as long as we do what we can as much as humanly possible, then that's all we can ask.  We have to forgive ourselves and get past that blaming thing we all seem to do. Your accident will put me back into that form I need to be in as long as I am to take care of animals who do not have control over such things.  I know your heart must be torn apart with this and I'll be praying for you to have ease from your pain soon.  I hope you can throw yourself into those two you have...doesn't matter they belong to Mom...you go ahead and love em to bits like they were yours.  And bless your sweet Mom, poor thing is probably very upset with herself.  I"m so sorry you and your Mom are going through this and I hope the best for both of you.  Dale
