| Elmo had been very sick the past month with a severe infection, which we treated with antibiotics. His vet (who is wonderful) told me the infection permanently damaged Elmo's kidneys and he'd be on meds for that for the rest of his life. He saw Elmo yesterday to give him some IV fluids. Yesterday afternoon I was holding Elmo--he was so weak and his breathing was so labored. I told him that I loved him so very much, and that if he was too tired and hurt too much, it was ok to let go. A few minutes passed, he was breathing fast, then lifted his head, gasped, and was gone. I miss him terribly, my heart hurts. He was so beautiful, so smart, sweet and sassy. He was a re-homed bird that I was blessed to have for 4 years (he was 12 1/2). Fly free, my love!! Marion |

I am so sorry Marion, to here of Elmo's passing. These little feathered guys really make their way into our hearts don't they? I feel your pain having lost 2 of mine years ago. | Marion -- after I posted my reply earlier this morning, I realized later I had Elmo mixed up with Theo. So I deleted it and am reposting with my heartfelt sympathies to you at the loss of Elmo. I'm sure he was a happy bird the four years you enjoyed him. HUGS! --Cheryl |
