The Royal British Legion, the Mayor of London and the BBC has announced details of a spectacular concert, free to the public, in Trafalgar Square to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of VE Day.
| Will Young | The two-hour concert features artists such as Will Young, Katie Melua and opera singer Katherine Jenkins, Daniel Bedingfield, Heather Small, Hayley Westenra, Sir Cliff Richard, Claire Sweeney and Dame Vera Lynn will be making a very special appearance.
The event is free of charge to a capacity audience of 15,000, with millions more able to watch and hear the historic live broadcast on BBC One and BBC London 94.9fm.
Thousands of tickets were up for grabs but were snapped up within two hours of being made available.
All tickets have now been allocated and the telephone hotline has now closed.
The concert is the cornerstone of a programme of VE and VJ 60th celebrations and welfare awareness-raising activities organised by The Royal British Legion, under the banner 'The Nation's Biggest Thank You'.
It is also a key part of the BBC's V45 programming marking 60 years since the end of the Second World War.
The Trafalgar Square concert celebrates both the day the Second World War ended in Europe and peace was declared, and serves as a thank you to the veterans who brought that peace to the nation.
In 1945, May 8, saw a chain of spontaneous street parties throughout the United Kingdom, with the largest and most exuberant in London's Trafalgar Square.
The event will be hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky and Eamonn Holmes and feature a stunning line up of artists.
| Natasha Kaplinsky | Heather Mills McCartney, actor Christopher Ecclestone, of Dr Who fame, Richard E Grant and Virginia McKenna will also be at the event performing readings and reminiscences of VE Day from 1945.
The concert runs from 7.30pm until 9.30pm and will see the artists perform a unique mixture of classics and contemporary tracks, accompanied by the quintessential war time fixture - the big band.
Unique video footage of the original and very moving 1945 celebrations in Trafalgar Square will also be shown plus special readings throughout the day by celebrity guests.

TV & Radio As well as watching the concert live on BBC One, people can also listen live on BBC London 94.9fm and other BBC local radio stations. BBC Radio 2 will broadcast live features from Trafalgar Square during the event with concert highlights broadcasting later on in the evening.
