How to hide your email address in groups, and how to change your message delivery:

Why hide your Email Address in groups?  Displaying your email address can open you up for lots of Spam (unwanted email) As a manager, if you display your email address, you can risk your passport being hacked and your group taken over / deleted. It's wise to never display or post your manager related passport email address.

Another reason:  Been receiving alot of email from Land Sea or Air (or another group) and want to make it stop?

Here's how to do both.

Hide your Email Address:

If you have been receiving unsolicited invitations to other groups or wish to hide your email address so that no one else can see it, there is an easy to way.

Go to the group and click on Member Tools in the left column, (bottom link). Then click on Check your email settings
In there, uncheck the box:

"Allow other group members to see my e-mail address."

and save your changes.
You can do this in any group and it is recommended that you do hide your email address not just because of spam, but because if you are a Manager and your email address is showing,  someone can spoof your email address, cause trouble in your group and hack your passport. Never reveal the email address that is related to your passport. Set up a new passport that you use for posting in your groups, only use your Manager passport for Manager duties, not for posting.

Changing Email Settings:

When you join a group, msn lets you choose from 3 ways to receive messages from the group:

On the web, In my Inbox, and Daily Digest.

  • On the web means you come to the group(http://groups.msn.com/ByLandSeaorAirAllUniformsWelcome) to read messages and reply to them
  • In my Inbox means all posts go to your email address and you can reply there. You can still come to the group to read and reply also.
  • Daily Digest means that all of each day's posts are sent to your email address in one Digest and you can reply to them there and/or come to the group.
Some people choose 'In my Inbox' here at Land,Sea or Air not realizing this will mean thousands of emails. But there is an easy way to fix this.
In your E-Mail there are other settings you can customize, such as how you receive posts. If you are in a large or busy group such as Land,Sea or Air you should choose 'On the web' for how you'll read posts. 'In my Inbox' would send all our posts to your email, and that would surely overload you, so we recommend choosing 'On the web'. A smaller group or that which you'd like to receive posts from choose 'In my inbox'. You can change your settings back and forth whenever you'd like. Daily digest just doesnt make sense to me personally lol but Im sure some like it :)
