Today's Picks: August 1st, 2007 AOL Active Security Monitor I don't count myself a fan of AOL, and so initially was leery about downloading and using this free tool. But what I found surprised me: It's a simple, straightforward piece of software that looks at the security of your PC, reports on what it finds, and makes recommendations. It looks to see if you have anti-virus software and sees if the definitions are up to date; does the same for anti-spyware; looks to see if you have a firewall enabled; and checks to see if you have peer-to-peer software that could pose a danger; among other tasks. It doesn't actually include any protection, but instead warns you that you need some. -- Preston Gralla Version: 2.0.0.18 Price: Free Operating Systems: Windows XP Go to the download page now: AOL Active Security Monitor |

Today's Second Pick: Rrootage In a foul mood? In that case you should launch Rrootage. It's essentially the same type of game play as Warning Forever. You scoot back and forth at the bottom the screen wielding laser and bombs that take out the enemy with bullets. -- Ron White Price: Free Operating Systems: Windows XP Go to the download page now: Rrootage |
