General purpose pump ladder

Pump ladder appliances are the basic fire appliance seen at all fires.

  • Weight: 11.2 tonnes
  • Dimensions: length = 7.7m, width = 2.33m, height = 3.2m
  • Carries: 1365 litres of water (1.365 tonnes) - pumping capacity of 3910 litres per minute
  • Equipment:13.5 metre and 9 metre extension ladders, eight 18 metre lengths of 70mm hose, 4 25 metre lengths of 45mm hose, cutting equipment for rescuing people trapped in cars etc., and numerous other specialist rescue tools including portable generator, inflatable air bags for lifting heavy objects, road signs, high power floodlights etc.

Aerial Ladder Platform

Aerial ladder platforms are used to help extinguish fires in high-rise buildings and rescue any person trapped inside. They can also reach down and lift people to safety from below bridges etc.

  • Weight: 28.2 tonnes
  • Dimensions: length = 11.3m, width = 2.5m
    The platform can reach up to 33m and the hose on the platform can pump out a maximum of 3900 litres of water a minute.

Turntable ladder

Turntable ladders are used to rescue people from flats or help firefighters to gain entry to a building if they cannot get in via the lower floors. They have a water monitor that can pour up to 1000 litres of water per minute down onto a fire that may be otherwise inaccessible to the crews below.

  • Weight: 14 tonnes
  • Dimensions: Length 10.3m, width 2.4m
    The ladder can reach up to 30m in height

Fire Rescue Unit

Fire rescue units attend major fires, road accidents, rail and aircraft incidents, collapsed buildings, chemical spillages and underground incidents..
