11 November 2005 Her Majesty The Queen has approved a Battle Honour and Theatre Honour to be awarded to units in the British Army for their contribution to operations in Iraq duing 2003.
10 November 2005 Six months ago a group of officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers from the UK, Australia, Italy and Denmark formed the first Military Transition Team, or ‘MITT�? in south-east Iraq.  Since then they have been working hard to develop the Iraqi Army as part of the wider security sector reform effort in Iraq.
7 November 2005 UK Defence Secretary John Reid has re-affirmed the central importance of the historic security and defence relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States on his first visit to Washington DC as Secretary of State for Defence.

31 October 2005 A group of RAF personnel serving with the Multi-National Force in Iraq recently took on an aerial challenge of an altogether different kind.
28 October 2005 The Bowman communications system will be going to Iraq in the Challenger 2 tanks and Warrior armoured vehicles for the first time, announced the Secretary of State for Defence, John Reid.
25 October 2005 Coldstream Guards who have spent the last six months in Iraq will return to their home in Lille Barracks, Aldershot Garrison, over the next few days.

18 October 2005 It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence has confirmed the death of Sergeant Chris Hickey of the 1st Battalion the Coldstream Guards.  Sergeant Hickey died as a result of injuries sustained from a roadside bomb at approximately 2320 hrs local time in Basra, Iraq.
17 October 2005 TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson and Sunday Times restaurant and television reviewer, AA Gill, were given full VIP protection when they visited British Forces in Baghdad.
15 October 2005 It is with deep regret that the Ministry of Defence can confirm that the body of Captain Ken Masters was discovered in his accommodation in Waterloo Lines, Basra, Iraq.
14 October 2005 British military personnel in Iraq made final preparations aimed at ensuring the Iraqi Constitutional Referendum went ahead peacefully.
12 October 2005 British soldiers based in south-eastern Iraq have been donating clothing and toys to orphaned children in Basra.&npsp; Throughout the summer the soldiers, from Number 2 Company First Battalion The Coldstream Guards, have had family and businesses back home in Britain collecting all manner of items aimed at improving the lives of many of the city's orphans.
30 September 2005 The Ministry of Defence responded to suggestions in the UK news media that the recent death of Major Matthew Bacon while on operations in Iraq was as a direct result of him having to travel by road due to the unavailability of a helicopter.
29 September 2005 The 1st Royal Anglians handed over Camp Chindit near Al-Zubaya.  The camp was a company location used to support about 120 troops, and will in future serve as a base for engineers from the Iraqi army.  Camp Chindit is the first such camp to be handed over.
26 September 2005 One of the last Wilkinson Swords of Peace ever to be awarded was presented to the Joint Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group at Gibraltar Barracks, Surrey, in recognition of their work in Iraq.
23 September 2005 Two of the soldiers pictured leaping from their burning Warrior troop carriers in Basra on Monday 21 September 2005 talk about their experiences.
21 September 2005 The Secretary of State for Defence, John Reid, and Iraqi Prime Minister, Ibrahim Jaafari, met in London to discuss the situation in Iraq following the arrest and rescue of two British soldiers in Basra.
19 September 2005 During the morning two British soldiers were detained at the Jamiat Police Station in Basra.  During the day MND(SE) sent troops to the area near the police station to help ensure their safety by providing a cordon.  These troops were attacked by a small but violent crowd.  Three UK personnel were injured in the disturbance.
