31 May 2005 Forty junior officers and senior non-commissioned officers from across Iraq began instructor training with the Army's Infantry Battle School at Brecon.
25 May 2005 Secretary of State for Defence John Reid announced the latest deployment of UK Forces to Iraq in a Written Ministerial Statement to Parliament.
24 May 2005 Known as England’s Northern Cavalry, The "Desert Dragoons" arrive in Al-Muthanna
17 May 2005 The UK handover of part of a £27 million package of security equipment to the Iraqi Security Forces (ISF) occurred during Defence Secretary, John Reid's, first visit to an operational theatre since his appointment.  The security equipment, including armoured Land Rovers, communications kit, search equipment, guns and ammunition is being given to the ISF by the UK to help them provide their own security in order to build a peaceful and stable Iraq.  This is the first tranche of equipment; plans are being developed for further packages
27 April 2005 Private Johnson Gideon Beharry of 1st Battalion the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment received the Victoria Cross from Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace.
