| | | | May 4 , 2004 | | | | | | Dear Reverend Diaz, Greetings from the web team. I hope you are well today and trusting in the living God.
We just received word that Manja's hearing date before the Supreme Court of Nepal has been moved back one day to Thursday, May 6. By God's grace, we hope to receive word of his release the following day. Please be praying with us for Manja and his family. I'm glad that we trust in the Lord Almighty. With Him, nothing is impossible.
Not long ago, a couple friends and I stood outside and watched as a ferocious thunderstorm pounded the building with rain and hail. Lightning flashed across the sky and thunder rolled and clapped over the land. It was an incredible sight!
Before coming on staff with GFA and moving to Texas with my family, I enjoyed spending time on the beach during storms in Oregon and Washington. The incredible power and noise of the surf pounding the shore are humbling and remind me of God's infinite power and majesty. It brings me back to the reality that I and my problems are so incredibly small. Yet, at the same time, this same God knows and loves me more than I can fathom.
I long for the people of Asia to also know the Creator as you and I do, to know Him who made the wind and waves. But, most importantly, to know that Jesus loves them and died for their sins. I pray that this week, many millions will hear the Gospel through our radio broadcasts and native missionaries across Asia and that many will find eternal life in the hands of the living God.
For those who've never heard,

GFA native missionary Michael was walking home after a long day of ministry. Suddenly he noticed a few young men approaching. He wondered if they wanted to hear about Jesus. His ministry had grown rapidly in the last year. The Lord had done miracles in this village, and there were many new people in the church he pastored. Maybe these men wanted to become Christians, too.
Though weary, Michael warmly greeted the men. Immediately they asked questions about his faith, the Bible and its teachings. He tried to answer them, but they began to argue. Then they became angry and grabbed the missionary, dragging him to a temple.
The youths taking him away were part of a radical anti-Christian group determined to hinder the Gospel. They were not happy to see a growing church in their area. But Michael did not fear, for he trusted God.
Entering the temple, the young men roughly placed Michael before several hideous statues, demanding he worship them. Knowing it could cost his life, Michael refused, making the small crowd even angrier. Yet the young men did not hurt him. They only threatened severe consequences if he kept preaching the Gospel, and left.
Walking away from the temple, Michael praised God for another miracle. He prayed he would never stop following the call of Christ and thanked the Lord for giving him the strength. He prayed for continued safety. But knowing he would go to a better place when he died, Michael couldn't help but think of the young men: They were really the ones needing security.
Please join Pastor Michael in prayer, both for his safety and for the salvation of his opposers. Pray his church does not stop following Christ--no matter what comes.

Parmejeet lay staring at the thatched roof of her house. Why do I even try to sleep? she wondered. Turning over weakly, she saw her sleeping family. If only she could sleep. The past few months had been nothing but torture for her. During the day she was too exhausted to do anything. Nighttime was even worse--lying there hour after endless hour, wishing for release into a dream world where her fatigue would disappear.
Parmejeet had lost considerable weight and was slowly becoming a skeleton. Even the doctor her concerned family took her to couldn't help. He gave her no hope and even told her she could die soon. Parmejeet was desperate.
Meanwhile, inside a hut in a nearby community, two young men were preparing a message. They had recently graduated from a GFA Bible college and came there to start their ministry. God was blessing their work: By His grace more than 15 new believers attended their church each Sunday.
Parmejeet's family often saw neighbors attending the fellowship and wondered what kind of god they were going to worship. They heard this god could heal. Could he possibly heal Parmejeet? they wondered. There was one way to find out.
Back at the church, the believers and their families sat on the floor, waiting for the service to begin. Everyone looked up when the new family came to the door--with Parmejeet. She looked terrible. Her family members, in tears, asked if the missionaries could pray for her, that maybe she would be healed. The two brothers agreed to pray. They took compassion on the family, inwardly grieving with them, and thanked God for this chance to help.
The young missionaries lifted Parmejeet and her sickness to their Savior and Healer. They knew Jesus could heal her body. Parmejeet felt stronger and knew she was healed. With her family, she joined the church believers in rejoicing at the mercy and love of Jesus.
Parmejeet continues to regain strength today. Praise God for His great love and power manifested on behalf of Asia's unreached. Pray each person in this precious family will soon find rest in Christ and His salvation.

| | A Little Boy's Gift - 04/29/04
A little boy's generous gift led to a family receiving the greatest gift of all. David is a 7-year-old boy who lives in India. His daddy is a native missionary.
David has a heart for the lost, too. He brought a Bible to school one day and gave it to his friend Mintu. Mintu was very excited to take it home and show his parents. For a long time, they had wanted to learn more about Jesus but knew no Christians.
Many years ago, Mintu's father saw a miracle: A Christian prayed for his little brother, and he was healed. But soon after the miracle, Mintu's father got transferred to work in a different town. So here he was, with no Christian contact until his son met David at school. And inside the precious gift was David's address. Mintu's father went to meet this Christian family.
With great joy, David's father explained the Gospel, and Mintu's family gave their hearts to Jesus. That was just the beginning. Mintu's family has now led 15 more people to Christ. Praise God for the love he put in a little boy's heart.
