Well she is gonna take some getting used to kinda abrasive at first.  She feels she can better control my insulin than my doc because it is easier to get into to her.  She also gave me a long lecture telling me even with my limits on standing and with my hands I should and do have to do the cooking for the household as well as the grocery buying.  As for the diet she adjusted the carb ration down and is hoping by doing that and eliminating coffee creamer from my diet it will better control my diabetes.  She wants me eatting meals no larger then a small salad plate and at least 3 of them a day regardless if it makes me sick or not.  She also wants me to include more fruits in my diet which I know I need but have to limit then due to the natural sugar in them raising my bs.  She did give me revised list of free veggies and such so that might help me get at least more of them if I can keep the kids out of them that is.......lol.  My daughter and I had a long talk while she fixed me one more large meal of spaghetti with meat sauce (canned sauce which the dietician said i'm not allowed to have anymore of), broccoli with cheese sauce and rolls(which she also wants me to limit).  My daughter agreed to try and help me with the new diet she wants me on including to dish my plate a reg size salad plate which I do have a few of and the portions the dietician wants me having for the meals she is here for.  She is stopping to get me some cucumbers and celery after work which she will slice or cut up so I have them on hand to munch on when she is at work.  She is even willing to try this diet change with me which will help.
I go back in 2 weeks and she will see how things are going and make even more changes then.  Oh i'm only allowed fruit juice to treat lows now as well which is hard to keep on hand for my kids both love the juices and would almost rather have them than soda...........lol.
Take Care all.
Missy

Missy I am so excited that you got to see the dietican and that she already has given you some tips for these first few weeks and then you see her again... good...
Sometimes when we first meet our docs ect we don't hit it off at first but thru a little bit of time in the appt we get to feeling more comfortable with them..
She is right despite our other health problems we have got to do what we have to in order to control our blood sugars... and you know once they are down a bit it might just be that you notice a difference in how much stinging, ect you get in your hands and feet.

Glad to see you are going to increase your veggies and fruits... now of course that broccoli would be even healthier for you if you left off any butter or cheese sauce.
Course the kiddos need fresh veggies as well and am glad your daughter is going to try it with you for the two weeks.

Can you shop at the commissary where you are?
I find alot better prices on things there in general...
especially if got during a sale..
Have a great day Missy... and keep at it...
Grab yourself another glass of water Sweetie....

Way to go, Missy!!!!!  I too am so glad that you got in to see the dietician..... you've taken the first step, hon in eating a healthy and striving for better health.  I'm sure that when the dietician was telling you things that you could and couldn't eat, you were thinking, "eeeek!  eeeeek!" but I will tell you something and you might or might not believe me now but when you experience it, you'll believe me..... once your body gets adjusted to eating properly and in limited portions.....eating what it can use instead of eating what our heads tell us we want to eat (that's what I use to do....eat all the yummy, fattening foods and then I covered it with insulin), the way you feel will make you ever so glad that you made this change in your life...... you will experience this, I tell ya.
And I am glad too that your daughter is willing to take this step and journey with you.  That always makes it a tad easier.
I'm so happy that you did this...... please keep us updated on how you are doing.  see ya. Peace,Cheryl
