I recently switched  from NPH to Lantus and have been having extremely low sugars in the morning (2.0) after taking my Lantus at night, yet during the day even after taking my fast acting insulin with meals, my sugars are in the 11.0 range.  I seemed to have better control with the NPH.  Has anyone else had this problem.
The education centre says it is a very tight control with your carbs and weighing your food.  I have a good handle on my carbs, but constanly weighing your food is not always an option and this is not really what I call " freedom".
I get bitter sometimes because I feel the healthcare personnal ( which I am ) make you feel like you are never doing good enough  or doing the wrong thing, and this is coming from people who are not diabetics and cannot fathom the real life of a diabetic.  Just wondering if anyone else feels the same.

Have you tried taking your lantus in the morning instead of at night? I had similar issues with Lantus when I was on it and tried taking it in the morning. I ended up taking 1/2 of the dose in the morning and 1/2 at night in order to get 24hr coverage. I have since moved on to a pump which I like much better. :)

I was having the same problem that you are having. I now take my lantus 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at bedtime. that has helped with my lows.

I was having a problem with lows in the morning too. I switched the lantus to mornings and haven't had that problem since then. Now if anything I am a bit high, but not bad unless I get carried away with snacking at night.
