Actually could have just been that your BS was starting to fall from higher than 2301 to 231 and that's what you were feeling, and eating the peach and the bread would have only made it go higher still. You body is still very used to being in the 200 to 300+ range, so anything lower that what your body is used it, is going to make you feel funny at times. When you are high and feel like you are having a low, that's normally a FALSE LOW you are feeling. Hopefully you are testing when you feel strange, that will help a lot in knowing if you should eat or not. The reason you felt hungry is you were either hungry, or your body was telling you "I'm lower than I'm used to eat something and I'll feel better" |

Bear is right, of course. But you could have been feeling ANYTHING with those symptoms. Being dizzy and anxious can mean all sorts of thins, from heart problems, to panic attack, to nothing at all. Or it could just mean a shift in the sugar that you are used to on to a lower one (as Bear said!) Please don't expect to have 100% understanding of diabetes...I've been doing this for 33 years, and I still get confused by stuff! One time, I was certain I was low...shaking, sweaty, anxious. My bg? 281! Now THAT was confusing! All you can do is try your best to maintain a healthy lifestyle, test, and keep going. If you have more troubling symptoms, please discuss them with you doctor. It never hurts to rule out any more serious issues before chalking things up to diabetes. Be well! sheryl |

I know what you mean, sometimes when I think mine is low, it is accually high. I think sometimes when its like that you have to eat something light and you will feel better. I know what you mean, it is a crazy disease and none of us deserve this. My brother died 4 years ago from complications and I found out 6 months later that I had it. |

Hey everybody.....I'm Cheryl and been T 1 for 33 yrs. and as Sheryl said, even with having diabetes for so long your body does things that we still don't understand. Being new to it all, it is important when you "feel" different ways to test your blood to see what it is. I've had readings in the 30's and not felt a thing...readings at 100 and been shakey. It's a matter of trial and error. You aren't going to get it figured out right away...you'll just realize what does this and what does that. Reading posts here will demonstrate that we all have such problems. I also think that when you're new to diabetes, when there is something different happening, you panic. I know I did "way back then". After time, you will get over that....lol. The only thing that you need to be aware of are low blood sugars as they need to be attended to immediately. Don't panic.... I'm sorry Eldest that your brother passed from complications of diabetes. That in no way means that you're on the same path. With healthy eating/exercise and a watchful eye a diabetic can live a good life. Hang in there, you guys.....keep posting any questions and/or concerns...someone will be here to help you along. See ya! Peace,Cheryl |

I was diagnosed six months ago as Type 2 and just joined this site. I've been doing really well - and hope to continue on that path. When first diagnosed I remember feeling those "low" symptoms when my BG got below 130 (LOL now I'd be angry that it was so high!) My nutritionist confirmed that it probably was my body trying to tell me to go back to what it was used to - grazing all the time. I've found the best resource to be knowledge of all kinds - I read anything I can about the disease, talk to my doctor, pharmacist and nutritionist, and try to absorb it all. It takes constant vigilance but I'm not going to let diabetes own me. Laura |

Hypo- glycemic is unusually LOW blood sugar, I don't believe they put you on insulin for that. HYPER glycemic - meaning just like it looks - the glucose is going hyper in the body - is HIGH blood sugar, as in diabetes. Both however require good nutrition to tame the beast, Laura |

I'm fairly new to diabetes and Hyper (high BS)-glycemic I have yet to get my BS under control. My side effects is overheating so far. I was using orange juice when the side effect cropped up, as I knew some one who had diabetes years ago and he used orange juice to to help regulate his blood sugar. What I didn't know was he was Hypo (low BS)glycemic. When I uses orange juice I was adding fuel to the fire. I was taking the max. oral meds , I just start injections. But my reading are still high. |
