All insulin works more effectively when it is injected into the abdomen. There are more blood vessels, and therefore, a better flow of circulation to the area. And any insulin can cause "fatty atrophy," a form of hardened tissue where the needle goes into the flesh. It is also possible to gain weight, especially in the mid-section, when on insulin.
