I have started a new group at AIMOO. You will have to join to post and I am not sure if you need to pay $1.00 or not, but it was the least I could input on the forum. Please let me know about this!

I hope we can keep our groups together.

Jak, that looks like a good site.  It certainly outlines all the features very nicely.

Here are the ones that I found:

There are so many options, it may be hard to choose.

I'll go along with whatever you managers decide.  Some considerations that I think are important (and that some of you have already brought up) are:  a) it should have a chat room  and b) we shouldn't be separated by type, especially since we've all been together for so long.

I do think it'd be just great to combine DC and DL, finally.

Diabetes Forums does have seperate areas for specific groups, but the members are not inclined to stick to their own group type.  All of the people on DF meet and talk in the general area of "Diabetes".  If there is a specific question about pumps or something relating to your type of treatment, you can post in that area.  If you just want to post about "anything" there is a chit/chat area that everyone also reads.

Most people just hit the "new post" button and read everything.

The good thing about both sites is the high activity and the information that is given.  DF has over 16,000 members, but for the most part there is a core group (like here) that posts.

I am pretty certain Tu does that as well.  I don't post there.

Gosh, it's amazing what goes on after having had brochitis I come back and look what happened.
I am in agreement w/ Ruth.  I would agree with whatever our managers do as long as we can all stay together. (and some one can explain any technical stuff to me for new location) tee hee.

I checked out a few of the boards that Suz had linked.  My thinking is that I don't want to go to a place that has boards that you have to know about to find.  I am not sure if I am making sense or not..so trying to explain.  MSN has many boards and categorizes them by health etc.  I believe many people find us by searching MSN (or say yahoo) and finding a board that fits their needs.  If we end up on some obscure website that allows boards..wouldn't you have to have been told about it to even know it exists?

I don't want to exist in a vacuum where new people aren't joining and participating.  The more people that join and the more new people we encounter will offer more information.  I just checked the member list here and we have 451 members.  How many members would you guess participate on a regular basis?  It takes a fairly LARGE group of members to even have enough regular members to keep the board going and to keep the board interesting ..especially on a topic like diabetes.

I really would like to find an active "host" site to place our board on..such as MSN was or yahoo is for the reasons I listed above.  I also want to be sure that people using Apple computers won't be limited in any way.

These are just my thoughts on this topic and I know everyone has their own opinion.  I hope everyone will share their feelings on looking for a new board.  I am curious though, is Prohealth back up and running a diabetes board?  I really did like their format (back in the day) but I haven't checked it out in years.

I have been in there too Jak, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, so I won't go back.  Honestly they can ban me forever if it makes them happy.  They killed themselves the day they didn't back their members and let one man take over and try to run the site according to his obscure rules.  Pro Health was a great place for people to share and learn from each other.  I am not fond of the format there.  There is no organization to the posts and it is confusing when you go and look for a thread you posted to before.  I think we have come a long way since Pro Health.

I have never been fond of the MSN boards.  Not enough people visit MSN looking for forums.  The site is dated and not supported well by MSN.  It has never been stable and I think they have had this closure planned for quite awhile.  They accidently on purpose let it slip.

It was good while it lasted, but the more people you have on a site, the more knowledge will be shared.  I have learned so much in the past three years and I owe most of it to the people who post on active diabetes sites and share their years of great knowledge.  It all started with Pro Health for me.

There is no reason this group can't move as a group to another site and stick together there.  It can be a new site, but why re-invent the wheel?  There are plenty of good sites to choose from.  Find one that everyone likes and move there together.  Not only will you have each other, but you will have a lot of other people there to meet and enjoy.

Here's a website that answers some questions about "Multiply."  Looks like it may also be the site we'd use to transfer over, if that was our choice.  So far ... no decisions have been made.  Just still exploring options and Multiply is one of them.
