Do you find the fewer carbs you eat the less Lantus you need? For the past week I've been cutting back on carbs quite a bit, but also experiencing quite a few lows. I am slowly decreasing my Lantus to see if this helps. Suzanna |

Most definitely, but I think it is not just the carbs, but the lowering of food intake as well. Karen |

You're probably right, Karen, because cutting back on carbs also means cutting back on food intake and total calories. The less we eat the less basal insulin we need. (either that or I need to open a new vial of Lantus) Suzanna |

Suz, The first time mI went on a low carb diet I had to get off my pills completely. I would go low if I took them. Back then I was taking glucovance. But of course, sadly, I didn't keep itup!!! Sugarbaby |

Suz, I'm not on Lantus, but I do know what you mean. Every time I really eat properly and cut back on both the amount of food and the amount of carbs, I start having a lot of lows. If I can stick to my meal plan for more than a day or two, I end up having to adjust my basal rates down. Ruth |

I just lost my post on this thread. I'm not going to type it again. lol If I cut back on carbs a lot or total food intake I generally have to reduce my Lantus dose a bit. Terri |
