Has anyone seen the program Ruby on style network?? She's an obese woman with diabetes that eats whatever she wants in fact she was eating brownies & praline cheesecake. She's on disability for her weight and lives on a "tight budget" yet we also see her getting a pedicure during the show. So she has to lose this weight to live. She needs a whole "team" of doctors. She also gets her diaabetic meals supplied to her for FREE. So.......how many of us who are diabetic could lose weight, need a team of doctors and would love to get our diabetic food for free. I know I would! This woman seems to be surronded by friends that are enabling her big time as to how she eats and her weight. What I want to know is why is this on tv? I don't plan on watching this again. I chanced upon it while channel changing and all it's done is make me angry. So many people need to much help. So many diabetics CANNOT afford to eat correct foods because of food prices and this woman just seems really insinsere to me. I don't know, maybe it's just me but I find myself feeling really angry about this , not that I have a right to. How mnay of us wouldn't want a team of doctors offered to us????? GGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRA r

Bren, I've seen this program listed as I scroll through the listings guide on the tv.  I've never watched it.  It sounds like something I might want to continue to skip over.  I would hope there would be at least something educational or helpful about it, but some of these reality tv shows seem pretty senseless to me.

I would like to have a team of doctors and also have my meals provided for free.  I've always fantasized about having a chef who made my meals for me and have them perfectly balanced, low on carbs and delicious!!!  Hey, I can dream.

I happened upon it too, but I obviously didn't watch as long as you did, because I didn't know about all of this. I couldn't take it anymore because of her whining. She couldn't get into the kitchen so she sat in the living room and whined about how her friend was taking the brownies and cheesecake to the people in the kitchen first. "Bring it to me." Oh my gosh, I kind of yelled at the screen. I'm glad that she's getting help and will get better control IF she follows everyone's advice, but like you said, there are a lot more people who could use that help also. I have step cousins like her and it drives me crazy when I'm around them (luckily they live out of town). They're diabetic but it was okay to have those three desserts, because they were smaller pieces - MY BACKSIDE! (Of course you all know what word I wanted to use there - more impact. ) They were full sized pieces. And then they ask everyone to bring things to them. I can't take watching victims play their little games. The mother has had diabetes for 20+ years and she told my mom when I was diagnosed that I was T1 because that's the only kind there is and the doctors were wrong, I need to be on insulin. By the way, she has had amputations, her husband had amputations (he died from diabetes complications [heart]) and their daughter just keeps getting bigger and bigger (probably close to 500 pounds). The sad part - they are all extremely well educated and yet they don't educate themselves about their health.

Needless to say...I will not be watching that program!

I will be sure NOT to catch it again.I'm glad I'm not the only 1 that thought she was whiny. " I can't fit thru the kitchen gate so I guess ya'll are gonn have to serve me." And she also kept using the excuse "I just wasn't brought up to eat healthy" AAAAGGGHHH I'm not big into reality tv altho I must admit wife swap & super nanny I do watch.

This is why I could care less about having cable tv...who needs a gazillion more stations that I don't want to watch!

I'm with you, Pat...there are those of us who are really struggling and could use some help (either financially, emotional support, exercise training, etc.) and we're not sitting around whining and complaining.  I really strive for calm understanding, but people like that woman make me want to scream at them:  "GO AWAY...GO FAR AWAY"  and it truly boggles the mind that ANY network would think this crap is worthy of a show.

The idea of those shows is to get an emotional rise from you.
They know very well what's up.  But many not diabetes educated people are supposed to laugh at this garbage.
They think it is funny that she is so heavy that she cannot get into the kitchen. So, you are supposed to laugh at that.
There are enough stupid people around to do that.  They will say, "It's only a show, you know, it is not real!" But for those having diabetes it is very real!
