A trend has begun in Britain and the USA. Its buying fake babies or known as ReBorns. They look and feel like real babies. It fills the emotional needs for some couples who can't or don't want children. See the link and let me know what you think.... Can this really fill the emotional needs of a woman? Would you want one? |

One of these fake babies might temporarily fill the emotional needs of a motherless woman, but let's be realistic here. I can see these women bonding with these "babies" and the start of a whole avalanche of mental and emotional problems . Having gone thru the heartbreak and agony of fertility problems, I lived the emptiness that these women are experiencing, while all my friends were popping out babies, so I am very symphatetic to their situation. After years of treatments and surgeries, I was finally blessed with a child. In my opinion, this entire idea is nothing more than a ticking timebomb that will eventually explode. My 2nd thought is anger! I highly doubt that these dolls were created to "help" childless women. They were created to put the almightly dollar in someone's pocket. Nothing less than taking advantage of people to make a buck. |

Only one word comes to mind, SICK! I don't think its a good idea for anyone to depend on a doll for an emotional need for theirself. |

After watching the videos I see an emotional attachment happening. I feel that will lead to many hours of thearpy somewhere down the line like Charlee mentioned. They could be useful in the cases of teaching teens what its like to have to take care of one. |

Our high school has similar mechanical babies. They are assigned to kids at random, who have to take care of them for a couple of days. This means they cart them to every class as well as taking them home. You never know when the baby will cry (they can go from a whimper to a yowl) and the teen has to try to figure out what to do to stop it from crying. I don't know that they've reduced the number of teenage pregnancies, but they're a novel learning tool. |

These babies don't DO anything. Well maybe a couple look like they are breathing or have a heartbeat. YIKES! Maybe as a toy for a little girl, but grown women...maybe on the psych ward...sorry ladies...I see all kinds of issues here. However, the artists are wonderful. Maybe a bit morbid. It's a bit creepy to me. YIKES again. Gena |

Gena- The babies can be programmed to do many things. it was very errie watching the one video (of the three) that shows the baby breathing. Creepy for sure! |

BTW,since Dh & I couldn't have kids,we adopted a pet(or she adopted us).I'd say that's a little more sane & dignified than a grown woman playing Mama with a doll. |
